Uh... people didn't march, because last August Obama bought 750 million rounds to mow down the Million Patriot March, and we are fully aware of him asking if the current military personnel will fire on American citizens, and just got wind before the INIGUARATION that Obama is using drones to zap journalists and American citizens abroad, along with innocent Arab and Middle Eastern citizens for being in the vicinity of 'terrorists'.

Obama To Sign Bill Authorizing 30,000 SPY Drones To Fly Over AMERICA

The police state you always feared forming as you watch
Look! Up in the sky! Is it a bird? Is it a plane? It’s … a drone, and it’s watching you. That’s what privacy advocates fear from a bill Congress passed this week to make it easier for the government to fly unmanned spy planes in U.S. airspace.
The FAA Reauthorization Act, which President Obama is expected to sign, also orders the Federal Aviation Administration to develop regulations for the testing and licensing of commercial drones by 2015.
Privacy advocates say the measure will lead to widespread use of drones for electronic surveillance by police agencies across the country and eventually by private companies as well.
“There are serious policy questions on the horizon about privacy and surveillance, by both government agencies and commercial entities,” said Steven Aftergood, who heads the Project on Government Secrecy at the Federation of American Scientists.
The Electronic Frontier Foundation also is “concerned about the implications for surveillance by government agencies,” said attorney Jennifer Lynch. The provision in the legislation is the fruit of “a huge push by lawmakers and the defense sector to expand the use of drones” in American airspace, she added.
According to some estimates, the commercial drone market in the United States could be worth hundreds of millions of dollars once the FAA clears their use.
The agency projects that 30,000 drones could be in the nation’s skies by 2020.
The highest-profile use of drones by the United States has been in the CIA’s armed Predator-drone program, which targets al Qaeda terrorist leaders. But the vast majority of U.S. drone missions, even in war zones, are flown for surveillance. Some drones are as small as model aircraft, while others have the wingspan of a full-size jet.
In Afghanistan, the U.S. use of drone surveillance has grown so rapidly that it has created a glut of video material to be analyzed.
The legislation would order the FAA, before the end of the year, to expedite the process through which it authorizes the use of drones by federal, state and local police and other agencies. The FAA currently issues certificates, which can cover multiple flights by more than one aircraft in a particular area, on a case-by-case basis.
The Department of Homeland Security is the only federal agency to discuss openly its use of drones in domestic airspace.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection, an agency within the department, operates nine drones, variants of the CIA’s feared Predator. The aircraft, which are flown remotely by a team of 80 fully qualified pilots, are used principally for border and counternarcotics surveillance under four long-term FAA certificates.
Officials say they can be used on a short-term basis for a variety of other public-safety and emergency-management missions if a separate certificate is issued for that mission.
“It’s not all about surveillance,” Mr. Aftergood said. source – Washington Times

Rand Paul's Bill to Nullify “King” Obama's Gun Control Executive Orders

Written by  William F. Jasper
Senator Rand Paul (R-Kentucky) announced on Wednesday that he will introduce legislation next week to “nullify” unconstitutional executive orders that President Obama has said he will issue to implement new national gun controls.
Appearing on the Fox network with Sean Hannity, Paul pointed out that several of the president’s executive orders “appear as if he’s writing new law,” which would be an executive trespass on the legislative powers of Congress and a violation of the Constitution’s separation of powers. “I’m afraid that President Obama may have this ‘king complex’ sort of developing, and we’re going to make sure it doesn’t happen,” he told Hannity.
Supporters of Obama’s push to restrict private ownership of firearms are hoping to exploit the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting tragedy to eviscerate the Second Amendment.
The New American contacted Sen. Paul’s office today to obtain details of his legislative proposal, which was not yet available on his website. Both Sen. Paul and his media spokesman were out of the office, so the only particulars of his "Separation of Powers Restoration and Second Amendment Protection of 2013" to be found at this time is a one-page summary draft plan that has appeared on the website Talking Points Memo.
“We only have descriptions of the executive actions, yet many could be construed to describe an attempt by the executive to make laws in violation of the Article 1, Sec. 8 of the Constitution and the 2nd Amendment,” reads the one-page summary.
“Congress has enumerated powers in the Constitution," it continues, "and any executive order by President Obama infringing on the Second Amendment rights of all Americans would be declared ‘null and void.’”
Paul's plan also contemplates using Congress' power of the purse strings to withhold funding from any attempt to implement unconstitutional executive order attacks on the 2nd Amendment.
Sen. Kaine: "Nullification is a code word"
The Left began responding immediately to Paul’s proposal with the usual scorn for any efforts aimed at reining in an out-of-control federal government. Joan Walsh at Salon.com reflexively offered the “Progressive” view that Sen. Paul’s effort is really nothing except thinly disguised “racist” state’s rights rhetoric.
Sen. Tim Kaine implied the same in an exchange with Soledad O’Brien on CNN:
Senator Tim Kaine (D-VA) adds his voice to the gun control debate, lends support for President Obama’s executive actions and comments on Senator Rand Paul’s desire to nullify the President’s orders.
Sen. Kaine says, “Nullification is a code word.”
CNN’s Soledad O’Brien asks, “For what?”
Sen. Kaine responds, “It’s a states right argument that gets used in times of great controversy. The President is acting by executive power that is legally conferred on him. And as you pointed out, you went over these executive orders. They’re basic, common sense things.”
When O’Brien asks him to clarify his ‘code word’ statement, Sen. Kaine answers, “We’ll see what it is. But the notion that we’re going to nullify a presidential action when the President is acting pursuant to law, you know, that’s just kind of this anti-government rhetoric that I’m surprised to hear somebody in government using."
Paul believes that there will be a severe political backlash for many members of Congress if they fail to oppose President Obama on this fundamental issue. “I think there are a few Democrats that will worry about going home to West Virginia or other states like that and voting for a ban on guns,” Paul said. “So, I think there is a good chance we can stop his legislative action. I’m concerned he will try to do the regulatory fiat, what he can’t pass through legislation.”

OBAMA’S COURT DATE 2-15-13 FOR SUPREME COURT CONFERENCE:

Supreme Court to hear case on Obama’s alleged forged documents

JANUARY 10, 2013 BY: MARV DUMON
Barack Obama, Sr
On Wednesday, Chief Justice John Roberts of the Supreme Court scheduled a birther case brought on by Orly Taitz which calls into question Barack Hussein Obama‘s eligibility to be president of the United States. Dr. Taitz, a lawyer from Santa Margarita, Calif., also made the announcement on her website on Jan. 9.
As of this writing, major news networks such as ABC, Fox News, CBS, and NBC have yet to report on the high court’s decision to review Barack Hussein Obama’s eligibility to hold political office in the United States or any of its territories. The case is identified as Edward Noonan, et al., v. Deborah Bowen, California Secretary of State.

On Feb. 15, all nine justices will hear arguments on whether Obama used forged government documents and fake identification in order to get elected as commander-in-chief. Edward Noonan, et al., contend that if Obama had been ineligible to run in 2008, other Democratic candidates should have replaced him on the presidential ballot. Additionally, electoral votes from states such as California that went towards Obama should have been deemed null and void.
The Supreme Court‘s website shows that docket file no. 12A606 was originally denied by Justice Anthony Kennedy, a Reagan appointee, on Dec. 13. On Jan. 9, Chief Justice Roberts sent Dr. Taitz’s application to the full court for a review scheduled for Feb. 15.
On Wednesday, Dr. Orly Taitz, who represents the birther cause, posted the following on her website:
The case . . . provides a mountain of evidence of Barack Obama using a last name not legally his, forged Selective Service application, forged long form and short form birth certificate and a Connecticut Social Security number 042-68-4425 which was never assigned to him according to E-Verify and SSNVS. Additionally, this case provides evidence of around one and a half million invalid voter registrations in the state of California alone.
The Supreme Court reviews about 10,000 petitions annually in regular conferences. About 100 are selected for further judicial consideration. In this filtering process, the votes of four justices are needed to advance a case. On her website, Dr. Taitz argues that Obama has used false identification, an alias, a fake Social Security number, forged birth certificates and Selective Service applications. [ See a comparison of a regular birth certificate versus one submitted by Barack Obama in this photo. ]
Among the aliases Obama allegedly used are Barry Soetoro (used while teaching law at the University of Chicago) and Harrison J. Bounel. Birthers contend that by entering Obama’s claimed Social Security number (042-68-4425) into background check systems, the name Harrison J. Bounel shows up in search results. Forgery of government documents is considered a felony.
This is not the first time that Obama has had to contend with the birther issue. On Aug. 21 2008, Philip J. Berg, a former deputy attorney general of Pennsylvania, brought a federal lawsuit challenging the eligibility of Barack Hussein Obama to become president. Berg alleged that Obama was born in Mombasa, Kenya and that the “Certification of Live Birth” on Obama’s website is a forgery.
The lower federal court dismissed the complaint as “unworthy of further discussion”. Soon after, Berg filed a petition for writ of certiorari to the United States Supreme Court which was denied byJustice David Souter in Nov. 2008. A second petition was denied by Justice Anthony Kennedy.
A third petition was referred to the Supreme Court by Justice Antonin Scalia. However, the high court rejected the writ of certiorari on Jan. 12, 2009, just eight days away from Obama’s first inauguration as the nation’s 44th chief executive.
Scanned image of Barack Obama’s birth certificate
A team of forensic experts organized by Arizona sheriff Joe Arpaio have looked into Obama’s birth certificate. In July 2012, Arpaio told Fox News his team’s conclusion that Obama’s birth certificationis “definitely fraudulent”. After months of investigation, his forensic investigators had discovered code errors, computer-generated marks, and manipulated seals on the document.
In April 2011, the White House retracted the Hawaii certificate and replaced it with a long form version. Around the same time, business tycoon Donald Trump sent a team of investigators to the state of Hawaii to question Obama’s real place of birth.
Said Trump:
He [Obama] spent $2 million in legal fees trying on to get away from this issue, and if it weren’t an issue, why wouldn’t he just solve it? I wish he would because if he doesn’t, it’s one of the greatest scams in the history of politics and in the history, period. You are not allowed to be a president if you’re not born in this country. Right now, I have real doubts.
The issue gained steam in the midst of a highly contentious election year as Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney gained favor among the voting public. In May 2012, the president’s former literary agent Acton & Dystel produced a previously unpublished leaflet stating that Obama was “born in Kenya and raised in Indonesia and Hawaii”. The promotional booklet was written in 1991 when Obama was at Harvard Law School. It was intended to be part of an Obama autobiography but the project was cancelled.
In Oct. 2012, just days before November presidential elections, Mr. Trump offered to donate $5 million to Obama’s chosen charity if the commander-in-chief would disclose his college and passport records. Trump had hoped that the disclosures would shed light on where Barack Obama was born, his citizenship status, and whether or not he was admitted to college and law school as a foreign exchange student. President Obama ignored Trump’s challenge in media interviews and refused to release the requested records.
However, comedian Bill Maher did issue a challenge to Mr. Trump to produce his birth certificate in exchange for $5 million donated to the latter’s favorite charity. Maher made the offer on Jan. 7 on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno”. On Tuesday, the real estate tycoon produced a birth certificate showing that he was born in New York City.Trump’s lawyer then issued a letter asking the HBO host to make good on his $5 million offer.
Attached hereto is a copy of Mr. Trump’s birth certificate, demonstrating that he is the son of Fred Trump, not an orangutan. Please remit the $5 million to Mr. Trump immediately and he will ensure that the money be donated to the following five charities in equal amounts: Hurricane Sandy Victims, The Police Athletic League, The American Cancer Society, The March of Dimes, and The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

THE TOPIC OF INFILTRATION CAME UP OVER KERRY’S CONFIRMATION HEARING....

Uncle Sam's Misguided Children

"After we win this election, it’s our turn. Payback time. Everyone not with us is against us and they better be ready because we don’t forget. The ones who helped us will be rewarded, the ones who opposed us will get what they deserve. There is going to be hell to pay." -- Valerie Jarrett

Who is Valerie Jarrett?

We need to understand the role Valerie Jarrett plays in Obama's private and political life.

Valerie Bowman Jarrett (born November 14, 1956) is a senior advisor and assistant to the president for Public Engagement and Intergovernmental Affairs for the Obama administration. She is a Chicago lawyer and insider, businesswoman, civic leader, caustic personality and slum lord.

Valerie Jarrett has been part of Obama’s inner circle since his days as an Illinois state senator. She identifies herself as a Chicago businesswoman, but according to Obama campaign advisers, she is much, much more than that. Jarrett’s corruption, arrogance, and hypocrisy have no limits.

Valerie Jarrett is the most powerful woman in Washington. She has guided the president's decisions on health care, the budget, the stimulus, the deficit, foreign affairs. She is the President, not Barack Obama. Jarrett is the “de-facto president” inside the Obama White House who controls nearly all critical aspects of the Obama regime from her second floor office just a short walk from President Obama’s private second floor study. “She is the single most influential person in the Obama White House,” said one former senior White House official, who like many would speak candidly only on condition of anonymity.

No one, not even Michelle has the access or power over Obama's decision-making like Jarrett does. Here's an odd little fact that gives some insight into what kind of president Obama is: Michelle, Michelle's mother, and Valerie, and only a few others in Washington, are allowed to call Barack by his first name. After work, Jarrett joins Obama at night in the Family Quarters, where she dines often with the First Family. She is the only staff member who regularly follows the president home from the West Wing to the residence. She routinely goes on vacation with them.

She is Iranian-born, and the Obama campaign has sought to keep her ties to Iran from the press, as it has also sought to keep her political background and deeply tangled business and personal relationship to the Obama family from sight. Jarrett was born in Shiraz, Iran.

Every insider in Chicago says the same thing: Jarrett has absolutely no qualifications to be the principal advisor to the president of the United States. She doesn't understand how Washington works, how relations with Congress work, how the federal process works. She doesn't understand how the economy works, how the military works, how national security works. But she understands how Obama works.

The president turns to Valerie Jarrett for definitive advice on ALL issues. She has given him terrible advice over and over, and still he turns to her.

Obama relies on Jarrett to create the White House bubble he likes to live in, where his narcissism is stroked and his desire to do the big, left-wing thing is encouraged. Jarrett is the doorman. She runs access to the president. She guards him from meeting with critics and complainers who might deflate his ego. No one gets past Jarrett who has an incompatible point of view. Just ask Rahm Emanuel.

Jarrett is the chief executive of Habitat Co., which developed and managed large housing projects in and around Chicago — and in Obama’s state legislative district — that were subsidized by federal and state housing dollars, and which were ultimately seized by federal authorities for what were unlivable conditions. Jarrett was known for her corruption and incompetence. While overseeing the company that managed these housing facilities, Jarrett also worked with long-time Obama friend and convicted felon Tony Rezko in raising money for Obama’s political career. She is the type of landlord who will allow tenants to live in her unheated rundown buildings in below zero conditions since she stole the Gubmint money while protesting Tax Cuts for the Richest 1%, the people who provide the jobs. Oh by the way, Jarrett’s net worth is estimated at around $13 million. So it's extremely important to underline the fact that Valerie Jarrett ran in elite circles while managing a housing complex that was seized by the government due to slum conditions.

“She knows where are all the bodies have been buried in the past 30 or so years of Chicago politics and she knows all the tricks,” says one longtime Democrat political consultant in Chicago. “If Obama had a political and financial godmother, it would be Valerie.”

Jarrett pushed ObamaCare. Jarrett pushed the Solyndra fiasco. Jarrett promoted Solyndra because one of her richest Chicago connections, billionaire George Kaiser, a top Obama bundler, had a 35% share in Solyndra. Kaiser visited the White House sixteen times.

Larry Summers, the director of the president's National Economic Council, warned Obama that the federal government should not get involved in venture capital of any sort. Summers understood that crony capitalism sabotages economic growth. Huge government funding distorts and destroys whatever market segment it touches, replacing economic decisions with political ones. A member of Obama's finance committee warned the president that Solyndra was going bankrupt. But it is Obama and Valerie who see eye to eye, and they saw the value to Obama of rewarding his political cronies. It worked fine in Chicago. Larry Summers is now out of the White House.

Jarrett pushed Obama to take on the Catholic Church over contraception, arguing that it would appeal to single women (she was right) and that religious freedom isn't important (she was wrong). Bill Daley, who had replaced Rahm Emmanuel as chief of staff, argued against Obama pushing contraception on the Church and invited Archbishop Timothy Cardinal Dolan of New York to meet with a displeased Obama, who didn't appreciate hearing from the Church. Daley is now out of the White House.

Obama canceled the operation to kill Osama bin Laden three times before saying yes, because he got cold feet about the possible political harm to himself if the mission failed. Instead of listening to advisors from the U.S. military, Defense, or even State, Obama was acting on the advice of White House politico and close friend Valerie Jarrett.

The US Ambassador Christopher Stevens who was murdered in Libya was not graced with a team of security personal, but Valerie Jarrett has a 24/7/365, around the clock detail, with five or six agents full time. The White House refuses to disclose the number of agents or their cost, citing security concerns. But the appearance so worried some aides that two were dispatched to urge her to give the detail up.

Valerie Jarrett is incredibly rude and arrogant. She is imperious and domineering. At one event she ordering a drink from a four-star general she mistook for a waiter. She's attached to the trappings of power in a way some in the White House consider unseemly for a member of the staff.

Gay rights advocates say they considered Ms. Jarrett their “secret weapon” in the White House on issues like repealing the military’s policy of “don’t ask, don’t tell.” And while aides said Mr. Obama found his own way toward supporting same-sex marriage, Ms. Jarrett “reinforced his instincts,” David Axelrod said. This is consistent with who you are, she told the president.

@JohnKerry @cspan I will watch your confirmation, I feel you will give us a fair shake, despite the criticism. I don't play to party b.s.

4m Tea Party Chief @2013_TeaParty
@cspan you have the freedom to engage how you choose without repercussions, consequences, but not punitive punishment

4m Tea Party Chief @2013_TeaParty
@cspan listening to the caller say he is worried about what people think of his social media, so he doesn't use it -- you are an American

7m Tea Party Chief @2013_TeaParty
@JohnKerry I will thank you, for your prior service, and pray you understand the service of this time, for which you assume this day.

8m Tea Party Chief @2013_TeaParty
@THEHermanCain @CainTV North Korea is readying in case Iran is attacked. Period. They are fulfilling a duty of an alliance, not as aggressor

@JohnKerry Some information is so sensitive, when I write, I have to delay my writing at weekly intervals, or remain silent until verifying.

9m Tea Party Chief @2013_TeaParty
@JohnKerry The concern is when you are designated as Secretary of State, will you understand the difference of times we live in today?

10m Tea Party Chief @2013_TeaParty
@JohnKerry For those who lacked cultural understanding and who are solely military-minded, they can have no appreciation of what you did.

11m Tea Party Chief @2013_TeaParty
Imagine his shock when they went to free him, when he thought he was on his death march @JohnKerry

19m Tea Party Chief @2013_TeaParty

20m Tea Party Chief @2013_TeaParty
YES you called attention to grief, but did not use it to advance your political ambitions @JohnKerry but NO...

22m Tea Party Chief @2013_TeaParty
Republicanism is that winning triumphs over everything and war is not football @GOP @SpeakerBoehner @JohnKerry @VP war costs everyone.

22m Tea Party Chief @2013_TeaParty
No offense to the @GOP @SpeakerBoehner but winning in regards to war is not end goal of the conflict, which is Republicanism @JohnKerry @VP

23m Tea Party Chief @2013_TeaParty
Everyone always loses something, when countries and nations of people go to war @JohnKerry @VP so we must not define war as winning.

25m Tea Party Chief @2013_TeaParty
As any American knows-regardless of the opinion of the enemy of what a surrender or negotiated end is @JohnKerry @VP vigilance is still duty

27m Tea Party Chief @2013_TeaParty

28m Tea Party Chief @2013_TeaParty
@JohnKerry You see, Hanoi have prisoner code/exchange like that of the Cherokee, which is what has hindered our government likewise.

30m Tea Party Chief @2013_TeaParty
@JohnKerry Because of the time you lived in, it was viewed as infiltration rather than legitimate relationship or discourse with the Hanoi.

32m Tea Party Chief @2013_TeaParty

No signs Syria’s al-Assad will be overthrown, France says

France said on Thursday there were no signs that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is about to be overthrown, something Paris has been saying for months was just over the horizon.
The uprising against Mr. al-Assad’s rule is now almost two years old – 60,000 Syrians have been killed and another 650,000 are now refugees abroad, according to the United Nations.

France, a former colonial ruler of Syria, has been one of the most vocal backers of the rebels trying to topple Mr. al-Assad and was the first to recognize the opposition coalition.
“Things are not moving. The solution that we had hoped for, and by that I mean the fall of Bashar and the arrival of the [opposition] coalition to power, has not happened,” Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said in his annual New Year’s address to the press.
Mr. Fabius told RFI radio in December “the end is nearing” for Mr. al-Assad. But on Thursday, he said international mediation and discussions about the crisis that began in March, 2011, were not getting anywhere. “There are no recent positive signs,” he said.
He said Syrian opposition leaders and representatives of some 50 nations and organizations would meet in Paris on Jan. 28 to discuss how to fulfill previous commitments.
Mr. al-Assad has resisted all attempts at forcing him to step down and has led a ruthless crackdown on what he calls foreign-backed terrorists.
The President was shown on Syrian state television on Thursday visiting a mosque to celebrate the birth of the Prophet Mohammed. Mr. al-Assad shook hands with government members and smiled but did not make a speech.
Meanwhile, Syrian army forces bombarded opposition-held areas of the country with artillery and air strikes, opposition activist said.
The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which monitors violence in Syria, said that six civilians, including a woman and two children, were killed in Homs on Thursday when a plane bombed their house.
On the southwestern edge of the capital, artillery hit the rebel-held district of Daraya, residents in Damascus said.
“There was very loud shelling overnight from the mountain onto Daraya,” said a resident of central Damascus. Mr. al-Assad’s army has used the Qasioun mountain range to the west of Damascus as high ground to shell opposition districts.
“[The explosions] sounded like huge trucks falling from the sky, one huge truck at a time,” a resident said on condition of anonymity.

Military intervention in Syria would be disastrous for its people

WE HAVE REACHED A CRUCIAL POINT ON SYRIA, BECAUSE IF ASSAD IS EXILED OR DIES, I DO NOT SEE SYRIA AS STABILIZING... I SEE SYRIA RIPPING IN TWO, DESPITE ASSAD LINGERING.

Syrians opposed to intervention are ignored by a de facto alliance against the 'Shia crescent' between the US, Saudi Arabia, Israel and al-Qaida

Syrians look at a destroyed military tank at the northern town of Ariha, on the outskirts of Idlib, Syria. Photograph: Stf/AP
US general Wesley Clark, the former supreme commander of allied forces in Europe, once revealed that within weeks of the 9/11 terrorist atrocity the then secretary of defence Donald Rumsfeld described how "we're going to take out seven countries in five years, starting with Iraq, and then Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and, finishing off, Iran." After invading Afghanistan of course.
The 2003 occupation of Iraq, however, did not go according to plan, and Israel was defeated in Lebanon in 2006. The downfall of US-Saudi allies Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali of Tunisia and Hosni Mubarak of Egypt, raised more alarms, leading to the Nato bombing of Libya. Today's target is Syria, which is at the heart of what Jordan's King Abdullah called the "Shia crescent": Lebanon, Syria, Iraq and Iran.
It is opposition by the "crescent" to hegemony by the US and Israel, rather than religion or human rights, that worries Washington and its dictatorial allies in the region. For it wasn't very long ago that the Saudi rulers bankrolled the so-called "Alawite-Shia" regime of former Syrian president Hafez al-Assad and had good relations with "Shia" Iran under the shah's dictatorship. Today it still backs Iraq's former pro-US Shia prime minister, Ayad Allawi against Nouri al-Maliki, the current Shia prime minister. And the US Congress has been pampering the Iranian Mujahideen e-Khalq, a "Shia" organisation classified by the US itself as a terrorist group.
It is now obvious that a strategic reconsideration of US-Saudi-Israeli regional priorities followed big US losses in Iraq and rising American popular opposition to US wars. In his 2007 New Yorker essay, the journalist Seymour Hersh related that senior US officials changed strategy not only in Iraq, but also in Lebanon and Syria: "In Lebanon, the administration has co-operated with Saudi Arabia's government, which is Sunni [Wahhabi], in clandestine operations that are intended to weaken Hezbollah, the Shia organisation that is backed by Iran. The US has also taken part in clandestine operations aimed at Iran and its ally Syria. A by-product of these activities has been the bolstering of Sunni extremist groups that espouse a militant vision of Islam and are hostile to America and sympathetic to al-Qaida."
But it was deemed that Syria and Iran were "more dangerous" than al-Qaida supporters. Congressional procedures were circumvented "by leaving the execution or the funding to the Saudis".
Iran has also officially pointed the finger at an Israeli "terrorist training base" in Iraqi Kurdistan, which is a major route for intervention in Syria.
US and Nato tolerance of al-Qaida former terrorists was evident in Libya. And with al-Qaida officially declaring war on the Syrian regime, the de facto US-Saudi-al-Qaida-Israeli marriage of convenience against the anti-US "crescent" is quite startling. It is an alliance not too dissimilar to the one that waged war on the communist "infidels" in Afghanistan in the 1980s.
Many Iraqis also believed that the US-led occupation forces followed the same strategy by turning a blind eye to al-Qaida-type sectarian terrorism in Iraq, because it weakened patriotic resistance to occupation and encouraged divisive sectarian conflict.
As the threat to their rule from the uprisings moved ever closer, engulfing neighbouring Yemen and Bahrain, headquarters of the US 5th fleet, the Saudi and Qatari rulers put their intense rivalry to one side and moved to violently crush the Bahraini people's uprising, and to undermine the democratic protest movements in Yemen and the entire region. Backed by the CIA and Turkey, their favoured means were throwing petro-dollars at selected opposition factions and militarising the conflicts. Meanwhile, the Pentagon is "fine-tuning" US military options against Syria and the CIA is organising the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and backing the Syrian National Council (SNC).
But what goes unreported in relation to Syria is that democratic opposition organisations, at the receiving end of decades of regime repression and probably representing the will of majority of Syrians, strongly opposed the militarisation of the protests. They argued that militarisation weakened the growing mass movement for radical democratic change, left the door wide open for foreign intervention, threatened the social fabric of Syrian society and helped Israeli forces occupying the Syrian Golan Heights, where Israeli tanks are an hour's drive away from Damascus. They also draw lessons from the destruction of Iraq and the hundreds of thousands of Iraqi refugees who fled Iraq's fires to Syria after the US-led invasion.
However, the media here and in the Arab world, especially the influential al-Jazeera TV, owned by the Qatari ruling family, act as the cheerleaders for the pro-intervention factions of the SNC and the FSA, founded in and logistically backed by Nato member Turkey.
All this sadly reminds me of the drums of the Iraq war and the media circulation of made-up stories peddled by Blair, Bush and pro-intervention Iraqi factions, while the anti-Saddam but anti-war Iraqis were marginalised.
There was the WMD big lie of course. But also the lies that Iraqi soldiers tossed away babies from their incubators, and that Saddam usedpeople-shredding machines. Murdoch's Sun newspaper editor boasted: "Public opinion swung behind Tony Blair as voters learned how Saddam fed dissidents feet first into industrial shredders".
Those who want Nato to "humanely" intervene say that Syria is not Iraq. They are right, Syria will be much worse. They need to tell us what will happen to Syria's 25 minority ethnic and religious groups, including the 10% Christians and 10% Alawites, if some of the Saudi-Qatari-backed bloodcurdling clerics come to power? Or to millions of Syrian women, who have immeasurably more rights than in absolutist Saudi Arabia? Or to the Iraqi refugees still in Syria?

The Syrian crisis: Where's U.S. aid going?

By CNN Staff
January 24, 2013 -- Updated 2343 GMT (0743 HKT)

Inside a Syrian refugee camp

STORY HIGHLIGHTS

  • The U.S. ambassador to Syria says the U.S. has provided $210 million in humanitarian aid
  • The assistance has to be discrete, he said, to protect workers from being targeted
  • Washington has also provided $35 million worth of assistance to Syria's political opposition
  • Ambassador: We can help, but it's up to Syrians to find their way forward
(CNN) -- It has been more than a year since the United States government withdrew its ambassador to Syria and closed its embassy in Damascus.
On Thursday, that ambassador returned to the region along with a U.S. delegation, touring a Syrian refugee camp in Turkey to bring more attention to the growing humanitarian crisis. As the civil war has intensified in Syria, hundreds of thousands of people have sought refuge in Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan and other neighboring countries.
Ambassador Robert Ford gave an exclusive interview to CNN's Ivan Watson and described what the U.S. is doing to help the refugees and the Syrian opposition.
Ivan Watson: The U.S. has given $210 million in aid (to Syria), but I think that there is a perception problem because no one can actually point at what that help is. So people conclude there is no help.
Robert Ford: The assistance is going in. It's things like tents, it's things like blankets, it's things like medical equipment, but it doesn't come in big boxes with an American flag on it because we don't want the people who are delivering it to be targeted by the Syrian regime.
The regime is going after and killing people who are delivering supplies. You see them bombing even bakeries and bread lines. So we're doing that, in part, to be discrete.
The assistance is going in ... but it doesn't come in big boxes with an American flag on it.
Robert Ford, U.S. ambassador to Syria
The needs are gigantic. So even though a great deal of American materials and other countries' materials are arriving, the needs are still greater. And that's why we're going to Kuwait to talk to the United Nations and to talk to other countries about how we can talk together to provide additional assistance.
Watson: The head of the Syrian National Coalition, which the U.S. government has backed, came out with a statement very critical of the international community, saying we need $3 billion if you want us to have any say on events on the ground inside Syria. Where is that money?
Ford: (Sheikh Ahmed) Moaz al-Khatib is a good leader, and we think highly of him and we have recognized his (coalition) as the legitimate representative of the Syrian people. And, of course, he wants to get as many resources as possible because of the humanitarian conditions that I was just talking about. Especially the ones inside Syria.
But we also, at the same time, have to build up those (aid) networks I was talking about. In some cases, they start out with just a few people. We don't need just a few people, we need hundreds of people, thousands of people on the inside of Syria organized to bring these things in.
And so step by step, the Syrians, Moaz al-Khatib and his organization, need to build that capacity. We can help build it, we can do training and things like that. But in the end, Syrians have to take a leadership role in this.
Watson: Is Washington giving money to the Syrian National Coalition?
Ford: We absolutely are assisting the (coalition), with everything from training to, in some cases, limited amount of cash assistance so that they can buy everything ranging from computers to telephones to radios.New aid for Syrian rebels?CNN producer visits refugee campsSyrian refugees live in cold, wind, rain
Frankly, if not for the American assistance in many cases, the activists inside Syria wouldn't be in contact with the outside world. It's American help that keeps them in contact with the outside world.
Watson: But, how much assistance has this coalition gotten from the U.S.?
Ford: So far, we've allocated directly to the coalition in the neighborhood of $35 million worth of different kinds of equipment and assistance. And over the next few weeks, couple of months, we'll probably provide another $15 million worth of material assistance.
Watson: Washington recently blacklisted Jabhat al-Nusra, the Nusra Front, calling it a terrorist organization even though inside Syria, it has attracted a lot of respect for its victories and for comparative lack of corruption compared to many rebel groups. How has blacklisting the Nusra Front helped the Syrian opposition?
Ford: We blacklisted the Nusra Front because of its intimate links with al Qaeda in Iraq, an organization with whom we have direct experience, which is responsible for the killings of thousands of Iraqis, hundreds of Americans. We know what al Qaeda in Iraq did and is still doing, and we don't want it to start doing that in Syria -- which is why we highlighted its incredibly pernicious role.
I think one of the things that our classification of Nusra as a terrorist group did is it set off an alarm for the other elements of the Free Syrian Army. There was a meeting of the Free Syrian Army to set up a unified command, (and) Nusra Front was not in that meeting -- which we think is the right thing to do. As Syrians themselves understand that Nusra has a sectarian agenda, as they understand better that Nusra is anti-democratic and will seek to impose its very strict interpretation of Islam on Syria -- which historically is a relatively moderate country in terms of its religious practices -- as Syrians understand that better, I think they will more and more reject the Nusra Front itself.
Watson: But I've seen the opposite. As I go into Syria, I hear more and more support and respect for the Nusra Front, and more and more criticism for the U.S. government each time I go back.
Ford: I think that people, Ivan, are still understanding what Nusra is. I have heard criticism from the Nusra Front from people like Moaz al-Khatib who, in Marrakesh (Morocco) in his speech, said he rejected the kind of ideology which backs up Nusra. ... We have heard that from the senior commander of the Free Syrian Army as well. And so the more people understand inside Syria what Nusra is and represents, I think they will agree that is not the group on which to depend for freedom in Syria.
Watson: Do you think the U.S. government could have done more?
Ford: I think the Syrians, as I said, are the ones who will bring the answer to the problem -- just as in Iraq, Iraqis brought the solution to the Iraq crisis, to the Iraq war. The Americans can help, and we helped in Iraq, but ultimately it wasn't the Americans. Despite our help, it was Iraqis.
In Syria, again, it has to be Syrians who find their way forward. Twenty-three million Syrians need to find their way forward. We can help, and we are helping: $210 million in humanitarian assistance, $50 million to help the political opposition get organized for the day after (Bashar) al-Assad goes. These are important bits of help. But ultimately, it's not the American help. It's the Syrians themselves.Liz Cheney@Liz_Cheney

A BUDGET?
WHAT’S THAT? SPEAKER BOEHNER GOES OFF ABOUT SENATE DEMOCRATS’ FAILURE TO PERFORM THEIR JOB THE PAST FOUR YEARS, WHILE THE SENATE HAS BEEN CLAIMING THAT CONTINUING RESOLUTIONS ARE ACTUALLY ‘BUDGETS’ WHEN THEY ARE NOT, AND THAT THEIR NEGOTIATION IS ‘BIPARTISAN’ WHEN IT IS ISN’T: YOU DON’T CLAIM YOU NEED FILIBUSTER REFORM, WHEN YOU ABUSE SENATE MAJORITY TO REFUSE TO PASS ANYTHING, OR YOU ARE THE ONE CREATING YOUR OWN VERSION OF FILIBUSTER IN THE SENATE, HARRY REID:

Aja Brooks shared a link via John Boehner.

John Boehner
The House will vote tomorrow on a "no budget, no pay" bill to force the Senate to finally join us in confronting our government's spending problem. It's been nearly four years since Senate Democrats last passed a budget, a shameful span during which one could make 179 trips to the moon and back. Click below to find out more about what could have been done with that time.

Republicans hit Democrats with ’179 trips to the moon’ since Senate passed a budget

By Rachel Rose Hartman, Yahoo! News | The Ticket – Tue, Jan 22, 2013

You read this
You could have built three Pentagons, climbed Mount Everest 292 times and constructed all 1,179 miles of that Keystone Pipeline in the time since the Democrat-controlled Senate has passed a budget, House Republicans argued on Tuesday.
As Yahoo News first reported, Republican House Speaker John Boehner's office released an infographic (pictured above) Tuesday to kick off a communications push designed to place Democrats on the defensive over the Senate's failure in nearly four years to pass a traditional budget rather than the stopgap measures that have been passed to delay government shutdown.
House Republicans last week offered to raise the debt limit in the short term if Senate Democrats pass a budget. Following news of the proposal, the White House reiterated its insistence on a "clean" budget bill, but hailed the offer as a step towards further negotiations.

Why filibuster reform failed, and where it might go next

Posted by Ezra Klein on January 24, 2013 at 5:08 pm  Text Size

Sen. Jeff Merkley didn’t win this one. But he might win the next one. (Washington Post)
A few thoughts on filibuster reform:
1. The reason there wasn’t root-and-branch reform of the filibuster is that most Senate Democrats didn’t want root-and-branch reform of the filibuster. “Do not underestimate how much appreciation for the filibuster there is among senators who have been in the minority of this body and have been able to hold up legislation,” one Senate aide told me. “Remember, estate tax repeal got 59 votes in 2006.”
2. The reform idea that got the most press was the “talking filibuster.” I’m a skeptic. The Senate can do quite a bit more to force filibustering senators to talk right now. The reason it doesn’t is that time is precious. The talking filibuster had many virtues, but at its core, it got the causality of the problem backwards. The reason the minority doesn’t burn time on the Senate floor talking isn’t because they don’t want to. It’s because the majority doesn’t want them to.
3. The reform idea that held the most promise was the “41-vote rule.” Right now, breaking a filibuster requires the majority to find 60 votes and put them in a room together. Under the 41-vote rule, the burden would reverse: Now the minority would need to put 41 votes in a room to keep the filibuster going. If they only had 38, the filibuster would be over. This would mean that if the majority leader decided to hold the vote on a weekend, or at 11:30 p.m., the minority could find filibustering quite inconvenient. And filibustering should be inconvenient. Versions of this idea existed in both the Merkley/Udall talking filibuster proposal and in Harry Reid’s plan B. And senior Democrats who are skeptical of filibuster reform, like Carl Levin, were open to it.
4. In some ways, it’s shocking that filibuster reform got as far as it did. Republicans hold the House, meaning filibuster reform now would translate into new Democratic accomplishments. And as Sean Trende argues, Republicans have a natural advantage in both the House and Senate going forward, meaning that the next unified majority is very likely to be Republican. Now, the correct case for filibuster reform is that you want the Senate to work better, not that it helps one party or the other. But if you’re a Senate Democrat, this will likely dim your enthusiasm a bit.
5. Remember, too, that none of the filibuster reforms under serious consideration would have meant a 51-vote Senate, much less eliminated all the other opportunities a dedicated minority has to obstruct daily business. Real filibuster reform would’ve meant a procedural war that Democrats weren’t anywhere near prepared to win. In addition, Speaker John Boehner said the House wouldn’t consider legislation from a post-filibuster reform Senate. It’s very likely that a real filibuster reform fight would’ve destroyed the Democrats’ agenda in the coming months — think immigration and gun control — and ended in a Democratic loss.
6. That said, if the next Republican majority turns around and eliminates or severely circumscribes the filibuster, as they tried to do in 2005, boy will the Democrats have egg on their face!
7. The filibuster’s reputation is much weaker among the Senate’s younger members than its older members. The older members can recall a Senate that worked, even with the filibuster. The younger members can only recall a Senate that doesn’t work, in large part because of the filibuster. it’s no surprise that the core supporters of reform were younger senators like Merkley and Udall. This morning, Reid mentioned that 43 of the Senate’s 100 members were sworn in after 2008. What happens when leadership of the chamber passes to that generation?

CLAYTON COUNTY CORRUPTION CONNECTED TO DEKALB COUNTY CORRUPTION, BY ASSOCIATIONS AND MISUSE OF SCHOOL FUNDS/CHURCH ACCOUNTS TO CAMOUFLAGE LAUNDERING, FUNNELING, AND SIPHONING....

Otherwise known as the $1,000,000 invoice, Dr. Heatley, suspected of involvement with $90 million theft/misappropriation of school funds in Clayton County going back to the previous Superintendent even:

Dr. Heatley insisted an invoice be filed for $1,000,000 and when the filer refused, she was subsequently fired. Since the previous Superintendent and Dr. Heatley, it is believed both administrators drained federal funds appropriated to the school system, and either used the invoices to camouflage the crime or cover the theft by creating false invoices or expenses....

it is possible that the misappropriation or outright theft of funds was used for campaign contributions, to Victor Hill, Barack Obama, personal enrichment, or that this money was 'borrowed' to silence cartels and “put back”, and the money was moved around from each department's funding at Clayton County schools or church accounts as the racketeering engine to conceal criminal activity.

Those ties are being investigated now, and those exactly involved with Dr. Heatley, and the ties to DeKalb County and elsewhere.

Here is a good place to start, wherein a teacher blames SACS, rather than those involved in using a school-funding funnel for corruption:

SACS is a Fake Private Organization but a Control Mechanism for the Politically-connected. It is Poised to Destroy DeKalb County Like it Destroyed Clayton County. The State of Georgia Needs to Accredit its Own Schools.

By John R. Alston Trotter, EdD, JD
We have been pointing out for going on five years now the sheer hypocrisy of Mark Elgart’s and SACS’s actions.  SACS’s so-called “standards” are a way to keep elected school boards in line and a way to protect superintendents and the politically-connected (uh, perhaps certain school board attorneys?  Hmm.).  SACS is simply used as a tool to keep the politically-connected in some kind of control once they have lost the control at the ballot box.  See Clayton County and DeKalb County.
Perhaps Georgia legislators like Senator Fran Millar (pictured above)  can pass legislation that will make sense of the accrediting process of the Georgia schools.  The Georgia Accrediting Commission (GAC) has worked well for over a century in Georgia.  But, SACS, under the aggrandizing and opulently-paid Mark Elgart, has worn out its welcome being a meddling and controlling mechanism, taking away the local control spelled out in the Georgia Constitution for local school boards.  What’s wrong with some enabling legislation that creates a Georgia Schools Accrediting Agency (GSAA) that would operate under the purview of Georgia’s top elected educator, the State Superintendent?  What’s wrong with sending personnel from the Department of Education to the various school systems to ensure that the school systems are abiding by State Standards as was done for years?  Who died and made Mark Elgart the Zeus of Educational Propriety in Georgia and elsewhere?  The power that has been given to this man by default is both scandalous and obscene.
The Atlanta Public Schools (APS) was different because the politically-connected (uh, King & Spalding, Price Waterhouse, et al., perhaps) were still apparently getting what they wanted.  So, a blind eye (literally a “blind eye”) was given to the shenanigans of the Beverly Hall Administration.  And, these same “connected” people and institutions apparently took an active role trying to cover up these shenanigans and to prop up the already-disgraced Beverly Hall Administration.  I believe ole Markie Mark Elgart also took an active role in trying to keep Hall’s house standing…before it came crumbling down.
Mark Elgart running away from the news conference about Clayton County.
What Mark Elgart and SACS did in Clayton County was unconscionable.  This was all started because the two apparent favorites of SACS (Chairperson Ericka Davis and Vice Chairperson Rod Johnson) were seeing their unethical actions exposed and their powers slipping between their fingers.  Hence, these two apparently thought that they could just use their friend Mark Elgart and SACS to scare Norreese Haynes into submission.  Mr. Haynes was bringing about most of the heat on these two by his courageous expose of such matters as the now-infamous “land deal” in Clayton County,  a deal that was pushed through without the signature of the superintendent.  Richard Belcher on WSB TV 2 did a two-night report alone, interviewing Mr. Haynes at length.  On one day alone, the four main local network news stations in Altanta as well as the national FOXS News called Mr. Haynes for interviews, but trying to be a “team player” on the school board, he turned down their requests for interviews.
Norreese Haynes exposed corruption and unethical practices on the Clayton County Board of Education, but he wasn’t one of Mark Elgart “fare-haired boys.”  [AJC photo]
After this and other matters which Mr. Haynes exposed, Rod Johnson filed a formal complaint which consisted of mush.  Mr. Haynes responded forthright with a 12 or 13 page complaint of detailed information with about 20 or more exhibits to SACS, demonstrating with great persuasion the unethical actions of Ms. Davis and Mr. Johnson who were apparently pointing the finger at him and others.  What did Mark Elgart do with this detailed complaint provided to him and SACS (and sent, I believe as well, to attorney Glenn Brock, who seems to work hand-in-hand with Mark Elgart)?  Well, Mr. Elgart just observed the “pass over.”  He just passed right over it.
Instead, Mr. Elgart and SACS came out with a “report” that was, as Norreese Haynes labeled it the very day that it came out on February 15, 2008 in his own press release that was carried in the AJC and attached as a PDF, “a sham and a farce.”  I read the so-called “report.”  It was pitifully written and of virtually no substance.  In fact, it was full of factual errors as well.  SACS didn’t want to know the truth about what was going on in Clayton County.  Initially one of the Central Office administrators in Clayton County called me and asked if I would be willing to interview with the SACS “investigation” committee.  I assured him that I would love to interview with the committee.  On the day of my scheduled interview, I was called by this same gentleman to inform me that SACS had changed its mind about interviewing me.  Mr. Haynes stated to me that when he went before this same committee and reached into his brief case to pull out documents which would buttress the claims which he had made, the chairman of the committee hastened to let him know that he and the committee were not interested.
The Clayton County situation was an open-and-shut case from the very beginning. The “investigation” stuff was a joke.  Same thing for DeKalb.  What happened in DeKalb is that board members were getting way too independent and couldn’t be called in by a friendly phone call by the politically-connected.  Glenn Brock’s offer of his services for a “search” for a new superintendent was rebuffed.  Then the school board went out and inexplicably hired a lightweight superintendent from some small town in Ohio.  Obviously, some members of the DeKalb School Board knew the connection between political power and money.  Political Science 101.  Pretty basic.  But, sometimes the politically-connected are so arrogant while feasting at swanky places like the Piedmont Driving Club and discussing the billions of dollars associated with public school systems that they seem to forget that the elected members of school boards who may just dine at This Is It! Restaurant also see the money involved.  And, guess what, they have the legitimate levers of power, viz., elections at the ballot box.  But, ah, those feasting on seared salmon, scallops, and asparagus at the Piedmont Driving Club have SACS.
DeKalb County School Member Nancy Jester (bottom photo) may be getting whacked by the State School Board and the Governor for simply asking the right questions.  Isn’t this what school board members are supposed to do?  No, not according to SACS.  SACS wants school board members to sit around holding hands and singing nursery rhymes in unison while the Superintendents and his or her Administrations wreak havoc in the school systems.
Yes, this is where SACS comes in.  It is a private organization with absolutely no oversight from the State.  No accountability whatsoever and scads of conflict-of-interests.  Its money comes from the public coffers, from the same source which it “evaluates.”  Mark Elgart and SACS have smarmy relationship with the States’s superintendents.  They love SACS.  SACS acts in a distinct way as their “union.”  I have said many times that SACS should more accurately stand for Still Advocating for Cronies and Superintendents (SACS).
Oh, yes, let’s return to Clayton County.  The next month after the so-called SACS “report,” I presume that Ms. Davis and Mr. Johnson saw that Mr. Haynes was not one bit intimidated by Mark Elgart and SACS.  So, Ms. Davis contacted Eldrin Bell to do an “investigation” about where Mr. Haynes was living.  Mind you that this is none of Mr. Bell’s business (by the way, he was slaughtered in this last election by Jeff Turner), but he got the Clayton County Police Department to “investigate” where Mr. Haynes lived.  They did a pretty horrible job because they went to his former residence in Morrow and apparently knew nothing about him moving to  Conley in a house still in the district.  I knew about it and had visited Mr. Haynes at his Conley home.  Mr. Haynes had even officially changed his address with the school system and the Registrar’s Office in Clayton County.  But, when you are not really looking for the truth, you won’t find it.  Despite the Georgia Secretary of State’s Office conducting an extensive investigation of Mr. Haynes’s residence and issuing not one but two different reports stating that it could not find evidence that Mr. Haynes lived outside his voting district, this same foolhardy Ericka Davis led the push in the March 2008 school board meeting to kick Norreese Haynes off the Clayton County School Board.  Not all board members voted to kick Mr. Haynes off the school board, but all the remaining eight school board members either stepped down under duress and apparent shame, beginning with Chairperson Ericka Davis, or were removed by the Governor.
The State Law clearly states that an elected official of Georgia cannot be removed without first obtaining “judicial determination.”  Mr. Haynes’s lawyer, Preston Haliburton, clearly and eloquently pointed this out in Judge Deborah Benefield’s courtroom, but Judge Benefield apparently did not have the stomach or nerves to hear the case and, quite frankly, would have gone all the way to Hong Kong back to try to find an excuse not to hear the case.  She demurred.  A real act of judicial cowardice.  She was indeed a profile in cowardice.
What did Mark Elgart and SACS do?  Ericka Davis, not in conjunction with other school board members but acting alone (which violates SACS’s precious standards), called on the County Commission Chairman, Eldrin Bell, to “investigate” Norreese Haynes’s residence.  The office charged with this type of investigation is the Georgia Secretary of State.  What about when the Clayton County Board of Education illegally voting Mr. Haynes off the school board?  What did Mark Elgart and SACS do about this illegal move?  Nothing.  The same thing that Mark Eldart and SACS did with the Cobb County Board of Education even admitted to holding 57 illegal school board meetings.  Heck, I remember when Mark Elgart and “advisor” Glenn Brock and two State Board Members met illegally behind closed doors with the Clayton County Board of Education.  That was a real irony.  I presume that it is O. K. to violate the State’s Open Meetings Law if you are connected.  Hmm.
Education Attorney Glenn Brock  always seems to be around to work hand-in-hand with Mark Elgart when school boards are spanked by SACS.  Brock’s firm of Brock & Clay has made millions and millions off the largesses of the school board coffers.
I write all of this in some details to simply demonstrate that Mark Elgart and SACS are hypocrites.  Several years ago when Crawford Lewis and Beverly Hall were riding high, I came up with my list for The Three Biggest Educational Hypocrites in Georgia.  I later abridged this list to include Edmond Heatley of Clayton County.  So, my list consisted of Hall, Lewis, Heatley, and Mark Elgart.  The first three stepped down or were pushed aside rather disgracefully.  I am hoping that the public will finally see the light of the great hypocrisy of SACS and its leader, Mark Elgart.  I have offered to debate in a very public forum Mr. Elgart concerning the arbitrary and capricious application of SACS’s so-called “standards.”  I have made this offer several times for almost five years.  He has not even responded.  I will debate him in Jekyll Island (he may be more comfortable at The Jekyll Island Club) or the Piedmont Driving Club (perhaps in the Alston Room), at the 29th Street Gym in Columbus, Georgia, in the Comer Auditorium in Bibb City, Georgia, at the Dairy Lane Barbeque in Sandersville, Georgia, at the Busy Bee Restaurant on Martin Luther King Drive in Atlanta, at Butch’s Chicken House Restaurant in Jonesboro,  at the Big Chicken in Marietta (here  Glenn Brock won’t have to travel far), or at Paschal’s on Northside Drive.  Heck, I would even travel up to Mt. Alpharetta where Zeus Elgart lives.  I don’t think that Mark Elgart wants to defend his actions in public.  I would have more respect for him if he submitted his actions to a rigorous debate, with a thorough and sifting examination of these so-called “standards.”
Folks, the emperor is naked.  SACS is a joke.  It is a control mechanism.  I prefer to allow the voters to control their politicians at the ballot box.  This is how a democracy works.  Anything else smacks of a pitiable Gnostic oligarchy. © GTSO, January 14, 2013.

HOW VICTOR HILL WAS CARRYING OUT RACKETEERING AND MORTGAGE FRAUD CONNECTED TO CRIME CIRCUIT:

1) Guns and Drugs
Confidential informant stated that Victor Hill was seizing weapons and drugs, and that Victor Hill would take the drugs from the evidence room that had no tampering or evidence of anthrax and arranged tribute profits or sales and cell cases, if the informant agreed to a lawyer to barter for information with the District Attorney. When Victor Hill would seize large quantities of drug product from cartels, who would call and threaten him, to silence their complaints he would trade them weapons.
2) Money Schemes and Mortgage fraud
The Money Tree Lending Scandal, as stated by the informant, questionable properties, and abuse of federal funds/defrauding of programs:

For example: This source article explains exactly how the mortgage fraud occurs and the method used:

WHILE PRESIDENT BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA TAKES THE STAGE AT HIS 2ND INAUGURATION HE TALKS ABOUT OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO ENSURE EVERYONE GETS THEIR "FAIR SHARE" AND A "FAIR SHOT"....

IN GOVERNMENT SUBSIDIZED HOUSING EVERYWHERE ACROSS AMERICA, PEOPLE ARE SITTING IN THEIR LIVING ROOMS WATCHING THE INAUGURATION ON THEIR BIG SCREEN T.V.'S AND CHEERING HIM ON....

We felt like this was the perfect time to share this IMPORTANT story with you. Recently, our good friend Michael (a local realtor) shared his experience with Leisa and I about an "Obama supporter" he encountered while showing homes to a low income, working family in Pontiac, MI.. We asked him to please write it down so we could share it with you. YOU SHOULD BE SITTING DOWN WHILE READING THIS:

As a Realtor for the past 28 years I thought I’d seen or heard it all… Until now.
I was showing homes in Pontiac, MI. one afternoon recently and showed up at a home at the 4:00 pm time my appointment was scheduled for. After I woke up the homeowner, she let us in and then proceeded to tell my buyers and I that she has already entered into a contract to sell the home on a short-sale. (A short-sale is a sale where the banks accepts less money than is owed on the home). After some chit-chat, she proceeded to tell us that she and her sister (who also lived in the area) were buying each other’s homes via the short-sale process. I mentioned to her that I thought relatives could not be involved in those transactions. She smiled and said "We have two different last names so no one knows the difference".
She went on to tell us that each of them owed over 100K on their homes and were in the process of buying each other’s homes for about 10-15K cash. To top it off, they were each receiving $3,000.00 in government provided relocation assistance at the closing.

My buyers and I were amazed that she was outright admitting to fraud and yet, she continued. She began to tell us that the best part of her scheme was that because they currently were not working that they (both) are now receiving Section 8 Vouchers. I said I thought those were for renters and she said “That’s the best part; me and my sister are going to be renting each other’s homes so we don’t even have to move, and Obama is going to give us each $800.00 a month to pay the rent!” She then picked up a picture she had framed of Obama and did a little happy dance around her living room and while she kissed the picture she was singing "Thank you Obama.... thank you Obama."

So here is the bottom line… Both of these scammers got at least $80,000.00 in debt forgiven, $3,000.00 in cash for relocation (when in fact they did not relocate) and to boot, you and I will now be paying (through our taxes) $1,600.00 in rent for each them each and every month.... perhaps forever!

Is it any wonder why so many people have decided that all they have to do is VOTE for the Democrats and they will be taken care of for life at the expense of the taxpayers? I would not be at all surprised if they are receiving food stamps and whatever other programs are available for anyone who is willing to lie to get assistance.

These women went from working and paying about $900.00 each in mortgage payments to staying home and getting paid $800.00 each per month to live in the same home they had been living in and all they had to do was lie on a few papers. This craziness has to stop! I’m sure this kind of fraud is going on each and every day all across the country and no one wants to touch the subject of entitlements because they might OFFEND someone or lose a vote or two.

By the way... she had an almost new SUV in the driveway, three flat screen TV's and a very nice computer set up in her living room which was furnished entirely with nice leather furniture.

IT’S THE NEW 'AMERICAN WAY'.....

For all of the "do-gooder's" who voted for Obama to help the "less fortunate"....CHEERS.....

Here is a link to some of the government assistance programs available today:
http://www.usa.gov/Citizen/Topics/Benefits.shtml#Homes_and_Housing_Assistance

3) Unethical use of non-profit ministries, churches, and rules concerning elected officials:

  • Informant stated that Angel Food Ministries was a coffer for money laundering, and it was frequently used and created by people who had felonies, who could not get food stamps. A portion of money was turned over for basic dry goods and food, most money was from drug profits, pumped into or provided by illicit drug sales from those participants concerned, to appear as if it was tithes/offerings.
  • http://www.facebook.com/pages/Light-of-Joy-Church/252063020535 Church members agreed to vote for Victor Hill, if he 'sowed money' or donated large sums to the church. It is also believed the person holding his bond is a member or that is how he finagled bond. Witnesses say that he agreed to put money into the church, in exchange for their vote and support, and that Victor Hill made a religious spectacle.
  • Other church members of different fellowship complain that when Victor Hill was Sheriff previously, that he would use his bodyguards as lookouts while he slept with underage girls, and that Victor Hill offered an inmate named Roberta time off of her sentence if she would sleep with him. Inmates also discussed that he was fraternizing and having an inappropriate sexual relationship with former Officer Powell at the time.

Since he is not physically at the jail because of his lack of certification, taxpayers are complaining that they should not have to pay his salary for job duties he is not performing, with his wages being garnished to settle the lawsuit against him. That they are paying him for a job that he is not certified to perform, that he is not performing currently, and that he is using his re-election by bribes to make taxpayers pay his legal bills.

The connection from Clayton to DeKalb is through church associations.... churches and schools accounts are being manipulated to hide money associated with illicit drug trade, mortgage fraud and financial scams, and conceal the participants by shuffling the money around: while Creflo’s church may be in Fulton County, World Changers has boomed in nearly 15 years. While the assault charges against Creflo may have been dropped, for whomping his teen daughter with a shoe, his teachings about men and women and sexuality smack of women being considered as ‘property’.....

Assault charges against Creflo Dollar dropped

Megachurch pastor Creflo Dollar
  • - A A A +
Michael King
FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. -- According to a newspaper report from Fayette County, assault charges against megachurch pastor Creflo Dollar were dropped this week. Dollar had been charged in connection with an altercation with his 15-year-old daughter at his Fayetteville home last June.
The Fayette County Citizen says state court prosecutors allowed Dollar to participate in an pre-trial intervention program which requires him to complete an anger management program and pay $1,072 in fees and court costs.
Dollar was initially charged with simple battery and cruelty to children after investigators said he attacked his teenage daughter during an argument at their home.
According to the police report from the incident last June, Dollar's daughter had called police to say her father had attacked her after they argued about whether or not the daughter could attend a party last June. The report said Dollar had choked his daughter, then threw her to the ground, punched her and hit her with his shoe.
When police interviewed Dollar, he said he had tried to restrain his daughter when she "became very disrespectful" after he had told her she couldn't go to a party, the report said. Investigators said Dollar admitted to spanking his daughter and wrestling her to the floor, but said it was because she had hit him.
According to the Citizen report, State Court Solicitor Jamie Inagawa said he had reviewed the evidence and interviewed the daughter before deciding if the case met the criteria for the pre-trial intervention program.
(The Fayette County Citizen contributed to this report.)

THIS INCIDENT, ALONG WITH A LONGSTANDING CONFLICT WITH FLOYD PALMER THAT ORIGINATES TO 1999 THAT ERUPTED YEARS LATER IN VIOLENCE, SHOWS THAT THERE ARE OTHER THINGS AMOK FINANCIALLY AND MORALLY AT WORLD CHANGERS... HYPOCRISY CAN HAVE VIOLENT REPERCUSSIONS:

STORY HIGHLIGHTS

  • Volunteer was shot several times at point-blank range during morning worship service
  • Gunman strolled in and calmly walked out after the killing
  • U.S. marshals later arrested a former church maintenance man at a Macy's in Atlanta
COLLEGE PARK, Ga. -- Authorities have arrested a former maintenance man at Creflo Dollar's mega-church who allegedly strolled in during a Wednesday morning prayer service and fatally shot the worship leader before calmly walking out.
U.S. marshals arrested 52-year-old Floyd Palmer at a Macy's store in Atlanta on Wednesday afternoon,WXIA-TV reports.
Police searched his Atlanta home, says the station, owned by Gannett, USA TODAY's parent.
Palmer has a criminal record in Maryland. He pleaded guilty to assault and carrying a handgun in January 2004 in Baltimore. It's not yet clear why he was arrested by federal marshals.
The 10 a.m. shooting rocked the 30,000-member congregation of World Changers Church International whose charismatic pastor, Creflo Dollar, is one of the USA's most renown mega church pastors. Dollar was not at the church at the time, police said.
Police said Palmer calmly walked into the worship service and fired multiple times at the 39-year-old worship leader, a church volunteer, but did not strike any of the other 20-25 people.
Fulton County officials confirmed that the victim was Greg McDowell, WXIA-TV reported earlier. Investigators said McDowell was on stage and leading a prayer when he was shot at point-blank range.
"The suspect walked into the church in a calm fashion," said Cpl. Kay Lester, a Fulton County police spokeswoman. "He walked in, opened fire, and left as calmly as he came."
WXIA reported the suspect was wearing a suit and tie at the time of the shooting. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution quoted a witness, Karen Webb, as saying the victim was shot six times.

Lester said police were still investigating whether the shooter went to the church specifically to attack the worship leader.
"We do not know if the victim was targeted," she said.
Palmer had worked as a facilities maintenance employee at the church until around August.
Linda Pritchett, 43, and a 10-year-member of World Changers, said the church has both uniformed and plainclothes security workers on duty at all times. She said she came to the church Wednesday morning after someone called her after hearing about the shooting.
"They called me because they know I'm always up here," she said. "That person had to be extremely disturbed or have a serious problem in their life. They had to be extremely desperate."
Dollar, 50, is founder and senior pastor of World Changers, which has satellite churches in cities around the nation. Dollar was the subject of a media flurry in June after he was arrested for "spanking" his 15-year-old daughter. He denied any impropriety and said he "should never have been arrested."
Church members were struggling to understand what happened in their place of sanctuary.
"It's very upsetting when your own member would come and do such a thing," said Marcia Lowe, a member since 1996 who was late to Wednesday morning's service only because she stopped at the post office. "Pastor has been preaching that the enemy will try to destroy us. This will not stop us."

The leader of one of the nation's best-known megachurches was accused in a civil lawsuit in Georgia of encouraging church members to invest in a scheme that promised 20% annual returns on safe investments but diverted their money to a failing company.Getty Images
Bishop Eddie Long, senior pastor of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, shown here preaching in 2010.
Bishop Eddie Long, senior pastor of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in the Atlanta suburb of Lithonia, and his church marketed, sponsored and hosted "Wealth Tour Live" seminars in October 2009 through which an entrepreneur and another firm recruited investors for a "Ponzi scheme," according to a lawsuit filed Wednesday in DeKalb County (Ga.) State Court.
The suit, filed on behalf of 10 church members who claim to have lost more than $1 million, contends that Mr. Long and New Birth church used their "confidential/fiduciary relationship" to "coerce" the church members into investing with Ephren Taylor Jr., the former chief executive of City Capital Corp. in Chicago.
According to the complaint, Mr. Long told the congregation, during his introduction of Mr. Taylor: "I am responsible for everyone I bring before you and what they say."
Mr. Long and his church received compensation from Mr. Taylor, according to the complaint.
Art Franklin, a spokesman for Mr. Long and New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, said the church's legal team wasn't ready to comment on the suit, and referred to an earlier news release that said Mr. Long has asked Mr. Taylor "to do the right thing by quickly resolving this matter with a positive outcome."
The suit alleges that Mr. Taylor told the investors that his companies focused on "socially conscious, safe investments" that would "guarantee results."
Neither Mr. Taylor nor his firm was licensed to sell investments or render investment advice in Georgia or elsewhere, according to the complaint.
Mr. Taylor, who along with City Capital was named as a defendant in the suit, couldn't be reached for comment.
One of the plaintiffs, Lillian Wells, said in an interview that she transferred her retirement savings into a self-directed individual-retirement account with a firm handling money for Mr. Taylor. On Dec. 16, 2009, she said, she was issued a nine-month promissory note for $122,000 that guaranteed 20% interest at maturity.
Ms. Wells said that when she tried to get her money back, City Capital representatives repeatedly tried to persuade her to maintain the investment. She said Mr. Long pledged to help her and other investors at a November meeting, and met with them again in December, but nothing came of those meetings or a conference call with Mr. Taylor in February.
According to the complaint, investors later learned that at least some of their funds went to a unit of City Capital that was purchasing video-sweepstakes machines—and later some machines were shut down amid allegations of illegal gambling.
City Capital's chief executive didn't return calls to the company's Chicago office seeking comment.
The case is one of the highest-profile accusations to date of so-called religious affinity fraud, in which potential investors are targeted through a faith-based organization.
"I've seen more money stolen in the name of God than any other way," said Joseph Borg, Alabama securities commissioner and a past president of the North American Securities Administrators Association. "Seven out of 10 of our cases involve affinity fraud, and in the South, probably 40% to 50% have a religious angle."

ANOTHER CHURCH RECENTLY HAD A FINANCIAL SCAM BROUGHT TO LIGHT: this one, by far, was the most shocking. Most people expected the loud-mouthed blowhard Creflo Dollar incident, and they were not surprised from his teachings that he was arrested for treating his daughter like a servant rather than a young lady, when he was angry about where she was going and who she was seeing, or wanting to go to a party. That and the fact Creflo Dollar’s church never paid for the lighting installed in the building, but preach about God’s provision, and preach about a lot of things...

Speaking of not practicing what you preach: most expected the bombastic Pastor Long, who denied his misconduct and refused to take a lie detector or defend himself in court, to be scamming his followers. That did surface.

However, this financial scam did not seem to reflect the intentions and character of the church or those involved:

Mega-Church Pastor, Bishop Wiley Jackson, Indicted in Investment Scam

One of Atlanta’s most well-known pastors is accused of cheating his flock. A DeKalb County grand jury indicted Gospel Tabernacle Church Bishop Wiley Jackson and his brother Rodney on eight counts of violating the Georgia Securities Act on Thursday.
“These people are essentially charged with selling securities without a license. In Georgia, this is regulated activity,” DeKalb County District Attorney Robert James said.
James said that the Jackson brothers recruited investors to their company, Genesis LLC — a business that the district attorney says doesn’t exist.
“The Secretary of State has confirmed that, at least licensed in Georgia as an LLC, there is no Genesis LLC,” James said.
According to his website, Jackson’s Gospel Tabernacle Church has three metro area locations. The district attorney says the victims who lost thousands of dollars were parishioners at Jackson’s church.
“They invested with them and they lost their money,” James said.

BOTTOM LINE: YOU GO TO CHURCH TO WORSHIP, NOT INVEST. YET, BE CAREFUL HOW YOUR CHURCH SPENDS MONEY: ALL OF THAT SHOULD BE DISCLOSED TO YOU ONCE A WEEK IN THE CHURCH BULLETIN, WHAT ACTIVITIES ARE FUNDED, AND YOU SHOULD HAVE NO TROUBLE USING FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT TO FIND OUT PERTINENT TAX RECORDS. DO YOUR PART TO MAKE SURE YOUR CHURCH AND MEMBERS ARE OPERATING AS A LEGITIMATE NON-PROFIT, SO YOUR CHURCH DOES NOT LOSE THAT FILING STATUS. IT IS AN ISSUE OF ACCOUNTABILITY. IF CHURCH MEMBERS ARE MAKING OVER $20,000 A YEAR, THE CHURCH MAY BE VIOLATING ITS NON-PROFIT FILING STATUS IS SOME WAY.

A CHURCH MAY BE OPERATING AS A SMALL BUSINESS, A SOLE PROPRIETORSHIP, OR FIT INTO A TAX BRACKET WHERE THEY MUST FILE AS A BUSINESS AND NOT A CHURCH. TALK AND VISIT, BUT DON’T OPEN YOUR WALLET OR YOUR CHECKBOOK WITHOUT DOING YOUR HOMEWORK ON IF A CHURCH IS DOING GOD’S WORK: ALL CHURCHES ARE DOING GOD’S WORK IN SOME WAY, BUT IT SHOULD BECOME VERY CLEAR TO YOU IF THEY ARE DOING GOD’S WORK GOD’S WAY, OR IF THEY ARE JUST AFTER YOUR MONEY.

Is The Black Church A Financial Scam?

ShareAfter last week’s post on financial scams ruining the Black community , I received an overwhelming amount of response. Between the several websites which adopted the post or created their own conversations around it, I read well over 100 comments presumably from other Black people reminding me of scams I left out. People proclaimed I should add everything from the foolishness of financed rims to Rent-A-Center schemes, but nothing surprised me more than over 40% of posters assuring me that I had missed what apparently many believe to be the biggest financial scam of them all: the Black Church.

I’m glad some people already added church to this list. They demand that you give 10% of your gross income, plus expect money in the collection plate at every service for general and love offering, plus expect you to support every fundraiser . . . let’s not forget the “roof or building” fundraisers that never result in a repaired roof or improved building.
On the flip side, Anonymous, who is really forcing Black people to do all that? When I wrote “5 Reasons Black Women Can’t Save Money,” one of my points was that we can’t say “No.” Many will give to the point of self-deprivation and for some reason take the stance that this is the noble thing to do (the comments prove it). But, for the life of me I can’t understand why of all the verses in the Bible that relate to money and wealth, people want to glorify the parts about being poor. How can you truly be this giver you are called to be if you’re riddled with debt and barely making it yourself?
I’m not saying that everyone’s destiny is to be Bill Gates rich, but if you believe in the Bible shouldn’t your aim be to leave an inheritance for your children’s children? How can you do that when you won’t plan well enough to take care of yourself in the present, much less the future? Leaving the present economy out of the picture, understand that being broke is a state of temporary circumstance; being poor is a state of mind!
After watching Soledad O’Brien’s, “Black In America: Almighty Debt” last year, I wrote that people “use the church as an excuse to be stupid.” Harsh? Yes. But, unfortunately very true. I get tired of hearing people who live beyond their means say, “I tithe, so God will provide.” Tithing is not an excuse for poor money management. Don’t pick and choose the parts of the Bible you like for convenience. There are hundreds, if not thousands of verses which relate to money and none of them involve tithing being a valid rationale for over spending, under saving and not educating yourself on financial matters.
Other commenters said that there is too much information available out there for people to keep falling prey to the same financial pitfalls and then blaming everyone else. Wouldn’t that be the same with the church then?

"Educational psychologists"

Making Little Murderers

By Alan Caruba  Wednesday, January 23, 2013
If anything good comes from the Newtown massacre, it will be a national discussion of the role of various psychological medications that have been foisted on a generation or two of young Americans in the nation’s schools. Particularly dangerous have been a group called Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs).

While the White House and other gun-banning groups grab the spotlight by putting the blame on guns, columnist Dr. Jerome R. Corsi recently reported that SSRIs have played a role in “some 90 percent of school shootings over more than a decade…according to British psychiatrist Dr. David Healy, a founder of RxISK.org, an independent website for researching and reporting on prescription drugs.”
A visit to one of Dr. Healey’s websites, ssristories.com, provides more than 4,800 news stories involving some level of violence in which antidepressants are mentioned. SSRIs include Prozac, Zoloff, Paxil, Celexa, Lexapro, and Luvox. Others include Remeron, Anafranil, Effexor, Cymbalta, and Pristiq, as well as the dopamine reuptake inhibitor antidepressant Wellbutrin, marketed as Zyban. If you listen closely to television ads for medications to stop smoking and address other problems, you will hear warnings about the way they can cause serious mental disabilities.
In a recent article on CanadaFreePress.com,Tom DeWeese, the president of the American Policy Center, a grassroots activist think tank, he said that “Today more than 7,000,000 children have been labeled, tamped and registered as permanent patients of the school system; 10 to 12 percent of all boys between the ages of 6 and 14 in the United States have been diagnosed as having ADD (Attention deficit disorder). One in every 30 Americans between the ages of 5 and 19 years old has a prescription for Ritalin.” The corollary diagnosis is ADHD, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
Think of it is millions of tiny time bombs in the schools and banning certain kinds of guns or limiting how many bullets can be in a clip has nothing to do with the mental illness that causes mass murders.
For a decade I was the communications director for the American Policy Center and was appalled to learn how the nation’s educational system had been altered from schools that concentrated on academics to schools whose purpose was behavior modification. In 1965, the passage of the Elementary and Secondary Act opened the doors to a legion of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and “the psychiatric programs and testing needed to validate them.”
DeWeese reported that “To date, there has never been issued a single peer-reviewed scientific paper officially claiming to prove ADD/ADHD exists.”
Columnist Ann Coulter characterized the latest Second Amendment debate, noting that “Consequently, whenever a psychopath with a million gigantic warning signs commits a shocking murder, the knee-jerk reaction is to place yet more controls on guns. By now, guns are the most heavily regulated product in America.”
The gun debate, however, serves to obfuscate the true cause of a rash of murders in America—some of which have been spectacular mass murders such as in Newtown, in the Colorado movie theatre, and on college campuses—the thriving industry of antidepressant medications.
As Dr. Healey points out on his website, “Antidepressants have been recognized as potential inducers of mania and psychosis since their introduction in the 1950s. Since the introduction of Prozac in December 1987, there has been a massive increase in the number of people taking antidepressants.” By way of grasping how widespread they are, Dr. Healy notes that “Before the introduction of Prozac, less than one percent of the population of the U.S. was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, also known as manic depression.” That number has risen to 4.4 percent, almost one out of every twenty-three people in the U.S.
Dr. Healey’s index of more than one hundred categories lists the top thirteen as including school shootings and incidents, women teacher molestations, murder-suicides, and even road rage cases.
The collection of 4,800 media reports include a lot of school-related incidents such as one in March 2011 in Charleston, South Carolina, in which a student shot and wounded a member of the staff when his plot to blow up the school with homemade bombs was discovered. In February 2010, a student at the Discovery Middle School in Huntsville, Alabama, killed a fellow student. In November 1999, Kip Kinkel was sentenced for killing to students at his high school in Eugene, Oregon. Now, multiply this with the many other comparable incidents and you have a problem related to psychological drugs that is not getting the attention it should.
The killer at Sandy Hook elementary school allegedly was prescribed Fanapt, one of many such drugs that, instead of inhibiting psychosis and aggressive behavior, tends to initiate it. The psychological side-effects of Fanapt were known to include restlessness, aggression, and delusions along with hostility, mood swings, and panic attack, as well as other behaviors that signal serious problems. Why it is still available is a question, given that its first producer dropped it, was picked up by another, initially rejected by the FDA, then later picked up and mass produced. Its adverse side-effect was said to be “infrequent.”
It’s not the eighty million gun owners in America that are a danger. It’s the legion of “educational psychologists” in our nation’s schools that routinely diagnose ordinary behavior such as a lack of attention or restlessness as psychological disorders and prescribe from a laundry list of medications in order to keep our nation’s classrooms filled with docile, drugged students, some of whom will end up killing their schoolmates, teachers and staff.
When you fill our highly regimented government schools with students who find the curriculum boring or who display the usual energy of youth and then identify them as suffering from non-existent psychological disorders, you get events like the Newtown massacre. There will be more to come.

Florence Cassez released in Mexico

Florence Cassez's case became a cause celebre in France

Related Stories

A Frenchwoman jailed in Mexico in 2007 for 60 years for kidnapping has been freed, after the Supreme Court ruled her rights were violated.
Florence Cassez had denied the charges and many irregularities were found in the case, including a staged televised police raid.
Three judges on a panel of five voted to have Ms Cassez released immediately.
The case provoked tensions between Mexico and France, where news of her release was widely welcomed.
Ms Cassez is now travelling to the Mexico City's international airport, where she is due to take an overnight Air France flight to Paris.
Ms Cassez's mother, Charlotte, told French television the case had been full of suspense right to the end. "It's an explosion of joy. I can't quite believe it," she said.
In a statement, President Francois Hollande said the decision marked the end of a "particularly painful period".
"France thanks all those who, in Mexico as well as here at home, have fought so that truth and justice prevail."
Mr Hollande spoke to Ms Cassez by phone on Wednesday evening. Details of the conversation have not been revealed.
"This is a historic day for Mexican justice." said her lawyer Frank Berton.
Sharp criticism
Florence Cassez was arrested on 8 December 2005 at a ranch near Mexico City where several hostages were found, but denied knowledge of the kidnappings, in which her former boyfriend was involved.
The next day, Mexican TV showed what it described as live footage of a police raid, which it later transpired had been a reconstruction performed at the request of the media.
The Supreme Court judges ruled that the reconstruction had violated Ms Cassez's rights.
The decision to release her has been sharply criticised by one of the hostages, Ezequiel Elizalde, BBC Mexico correspondent Will Grant says.
Mr Elizalde testified against Ms Cassez and has condemned the Supreme Court's decision as "disgusting", describing Mexico's institutions as "filth".
This was the second time that the Supreme Court had taken a vote on freeing Ms Cassez.
Last March, however, the judges decided against her release, despite acknowledging serious irregularities in the process.
When first convicted, she was jailed for 96 years, But, in 2009, a court of appeal reduced the term to 60 years.
French authorities tried to extradite her, but the move was blocked by the Mexican government.
Mr Hollande's predecessor in the Elysee Palace, Nicolas Sarkozy, championed the case and repeatedly clashed with the Mexican government of then-President Felipe Calderon.
Diplomatic tensions reached a peak two years ago when Mexican authorities cancelled a high-profile cultural event in Paris.

The Guardians of Open Journalism

A few days back, on 29 February 2012, the Guardian released one of the most striking advertisements I have seen in a long while. The first major television campaign for the Guardian in over twenty-five years, according to the paper, is certainly one of the most vibrant, humorous and intelligent ads I have seen any major news outlet produce, and it may be the best ad of 2012 thus far.

Screenshot of social media chatter in the advert
The first major television campaign for the Guardian in over twenty-five years… it may be the best ad of 2012 thus far.
Part of the Guardian’s ‘Open Journalism’ campaign, the two-minute short has been dubbed the “Three Little Pigs” advert. It riffs off of the conventional three little pigs children’s story – you know the one with the huffing and puffing wolf who is responsible for a slew of straw and wooden property destruction. The piece with its rapid cuts, inventive camera movements, dramatic music composition and sporadic use of gothic lighting, is masterfully evocative and seems more filmy than many films I’ve seen. And after the pointed criticism of 2011 Christmas adverts in this Charlie Brook’s article, you get the sense that if the Guardian was going to try their hand at a viral advert – this is the only way they were going to do it.
You can see the behind-the-scenes coverage here. It depicts how the Guardian might follow the story of the murder of the Big Bad Wolf by the Three Pigs, beginning with the Guardian’s online and print coverage and traces the ensuing global and multilingual response of the readership, across an array of social media platforms, as new evidence is published and opinion inevitably sways back and forth amongst the masses. There is an indefatigable championing of the free internet voice in the ad, which aligns nicely with Urban Times’ current bout of web adoration in our #WebLove Series (note the Hashtag), which you should definitely check out.
The mood is hyper-realistic with its flashes of what feels like oppressive government and vested interest met by expressions of growing anger spilling into physical displays of people power, hinting possibly to the Occupy movement of the last year. And so the film is, apparently, a metaphor for the Guardian’s commitment to “Open Journalism”. The response, as far as a cursory glance at the online comments goes, has been overwhelmingly positive.
Editor-in-Chief, Alan Rusbridger explained in the article, “A World of News at your Fingertips” that:
“Open is our operating system, a way of doing things that is based on a belief in the open exchange of information, ideas and opinions and its power to bring about change… The campaign is designed to bring that philosophy to life for new and existing readers.”
When discussing what open journalism looks like, he knits a patchwork of journalistic contribution that interweaves to form a living body much more than the sum of its parts. And because Rusbridger paints such an intriguing picture, I’ve included a sizeable chunk of his piece:
“A man dies at the heart of a protest: a reporter wants to discover the truth. A journalist is seeking to contact anyone who can explain how another victim died while being restrained on a plane. A newsroom has to digest 400,000 official documents released simultaneously.
The travel section is searching for a thousand people who know Berlin like the back of their hand. The environment team is seeking to expand the range, authority and depth of their coverage. The foreign desk wants to harness as many Arab voices as possible to help report and explain the spring revolutions.
The technology team work out the best way for a newspaper’s content to be shared, distributed and connected as easily as possible and build a piece of open software to make it happen. The developers at cutting edge outfits, small and giant, like that: it means they can easily incorporate that output into the platforms, products and devices they are building.
The newspaper is moving beyond a newspaper. Journalists are finding they can give the whole picture better. Over a year the readership grows – a little in print, vastly in digital. Advertisers like it, too. This is what we mean by open. The newspaper is the Guardian.

Urban Times: A User-Generated Home For Open Journalism

Open is our operating system, a way of doing things that is based on a belief in the open exchange of information, ideas and opinions – Alan Rusbridger, Guardian Editor-in-Chief
Rusbridger’s words are inspiring, and all the more comforting in light of my own role as of Editor-in-Chief of Urban Times. That’s not to say the sheer scale of the Guardian machine isn’t intimidating also. Something to strive towards, perhaps. Not to replicate, but to learn from. The Guardian’s model, after all, isn’t built around user-generated content, as say, the Huffington Post‘s is.
Of Rusbridger’s words, those which struck me most profoundly are those which came in little idealistic phrasings; “open operating system”, “open exchange of information”, “power to bring about change”. Such phraseology, typically, makes me wary because it is so darn easy-to-use disingenuously. You hear principles like these espoused every day by big brands, marketeers, profiteers, politicians and cynics looking to leverage their impact. But this isn’t an article about the dangers of green-washing, freedom-washing, open-source-washing and the like; rather it is an article about optimism. Optimism requires a certain leap of faith, and for just this moment, wash down the taste of your own bitter cynicism. Alan Rusbridger doesn’t know it and, the odds are, he doesn’t yet know of Urban Times, but he is speaking directly to us. And he has struck a nerve.

We strive to uphold the same tenets that the Guardian claims to uphold. Have a look at the ongoing series Protect Your Online Rights to see the work we’ve attempted to defend the internet against the likes of ACTA, PIPA and SOPA. Open Source, open exchange and freedom to act for change are values which are present at the core of everything we’ve done so far and plan to do. They are an un-burdensome anchor for our approach to content creation. They are the tenets of our mission. I credit my friend Frank da Silva, with the technological metaphor of a necessary system upgrade to a 2.0 Operating system for our Earth. Cue a more powerful, productive and efficient model. This upgrade is what we strive for and the concept is encapsulated with no greater vigour than when it is attributed to our journalistic framework.
…all of us united under a single ethos: optimistic, forward-thinking. This is citizen journalism at its finest and we show no signs of stopping. – Alex Phillips, UT Editor-in-Chief
Unlike the Guardian, with its sizeable editorial team, and paid staff of writers, we have a small editorial force – unpaid and voluntary. True, but that may be underplaying our achievement, for our core team of four persons in London is padded by a growing team of volunteer editors toiling remotely when they can to curate the content of no less than 350 writers who contribute from literally every habitable continent on the planet. Our userbase has multiplied tenfold in a year to a quarter of a million. And all of us united under a single ethos: optimistic, forward-thinking. This is citizen journalism at its finest and we show no signs of stopping.
What we have achieved, my friends, is immense and truly global. This spirit of collaboration is a natural high that I can’t get enough of.

Speaker Boehner Talks “No Budget, No Pay,” Balanced Budget With Laura Ingraham

Posted by Don Seymour
January 23, 2013
General
In an interview with Laura Ingraham today, Speaker John Boehner highlighted today’s vote on theNo Budget, No Pay Act, said the House will outline a plan to balance the budget within 10 years, and discussed the importance of holding the Obama administration accountable for its response to the terrorist attack in Benghazi. Here are several key excerpts:
Boehner on “No Budget, No Pay”:
“Our bill today extends the debt limit for an additional 90 days, and it makes it very clear to the Senate and to the House that you pass a budget or you don’t get paid. The House is going to do its job; it’s time for the Senate to do their job. … Every hardworking taxpayer knows that they’ve got to do a budget. And every hardworking taxpayer expects Washington to do a budget as well, and if they don’t, why pay them?”
Boehner on Balancing the Budget in 10 Years:
“The House is going to have a plan in our budget to balance the budget over the next 10 years. … House Republicans are committed to do everything we can to get spending under control.”
Boehner on the Terrorist Attack in Libya:
“There are facts out there that make it clear that [the Obama administration] knew this was a terrorist attack and yet they went on for weeks trying to claim that it wasn’t. … We are bound and determined to get to the bottom of who knew what and when, and why the administration continued to deny that this was in fact a terrorist attack. And the fact that they denied these legitimate requests for additional security in Libya.”

OBAMACARE DOES NOT MEET PAYGO LAW, AND FUNDING MUST BE STRUCK:

Democrats May Not Have Enough Votes to End Filibuster

The number two Democrat in the Senate today admitted Democrats may not have enough votes to end the filibuster. Leading pro-life groups have been lobbying members of the Senate to resist ending it, saying the pro-abortion agenda of President Barack Obama and Democrats could proceed unmitigated if that happens.
As The Hill reports:
Senate Democratic Whip Dick Durbin (Ill.), a leading liberal, said Wednesday Democrats do not have enough votes to implement the talking-filibuster reform. He said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) has suggested a package of more modest reforms to Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.). They include proposals to eliminate filibusters on motions to proceed to new business and to speed the process for sending legislation to conference negotiations with the House.
Reid is waiting for a response from McConnell. If McConnell declines to strike a deal, Reid has enough votes to implement reforms through the nuclear option, a controversial tactic whereby Senate rules can be changed by a simple majority vote.
But Reid does not have 51 votes to make the rules change that liberals say is most important: requiring senators who want to filibuster legislation to actively hold the floor and debate. If senators seeking to block business fail to continuously hold the floor, the matter could advance by a majority vote.
“I would say the talking filibuster at this point does not have 51 votes,” said Durbin.
In a recent legislative alert, the pro-life group Eagle Forum talks about the problems and urges pro-life people to contact their senators urging them to resist the changes.
“Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is resorting to more dirty tricks to silence conservative opposition to his liberal agenda,” the group said. “This time, he convinced a few Republicans to go along with an alleged compromise on so-called “filibuster reform,” but the result will be the same – conservatives will be shut out of the process of legislating.”
Eagle Forum describes it as a “complex scam Harry Reid is pulling on the American people by using Senate procedure to not only shut conservatives out of the process, but to create the illusion that he is actually including them, then accusing them of being obstructionist.”
It said it is “thankful for conservatives like Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky who … is pledging to stand up against Reid’s tyranny.”
The pro-life Susan B. Anthony List sent out a legislative alert to its members.
“Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is threatening to change the rules of the U.S. Senate in order to make it easier to pass his agenda, including radical pro-abortion policies,”  it said.
“Longstanding Senate rules protect those in the minority by ensuring that the motion to move to any legislation requires at least 60 votes. If Senator Reid has his way, he could push through legislation in the Senate with just 50 or 51 votes – meaning that current pro-life laws could be put in jeopardy, and the Senate could pass legislation that furthers President Obama’s radical assault on Life and Religious Liberty,” the SBA List added.
“Contact your two Senators today and tell them you strongly oppose Senator Reid’s power grab,” it said.
The letter SBA List members are sending senators reads:
As your constituent, I am urging you to oppose Senator Harry Reid’s attempt to jettison long-standing Senate rules that have always been supported by both parties that would trample on the rights of the minority.
The filibuster has long provided the minority party the ability to influence legislation. The 60-vote threshold to end debate prevents the majority party from passing legislation without any input or influence by the minority party, forcing bipartisan agreements and allowing the minority party to offer amendments. Any attempt to change this is nothing but a power grab by the majority party seeking to block any input or influence of those not in the majority.
If the nuclear option is used, the Senate will forever be changed for the worse. Without the filibuster, power to legislate rests solely in the hands of whichever party happens to control 51 votes, leaving the minority party virtually powerless to influence legislation.
Please oppose Senator Reid’s power grab.
Previously, the National Right to Life Committee alerted pro-life advocates to the move with the hopes of stopping it.
“When the new Congress convenes on January 3, President Obama’s party will control 55 seats in the U.S. Senate — a gain of two seats over 2011-2012.  However, the longstanding Senate rules protect the rights of a Senate minority in ways that generally ensure that any legislation that will make a major change in federal policy will require 60 votes to be approved.  Currently, these rules act to provide vital protections for a number of pro-life policies that were enacted prior to the election of Barack Obama as president in 2008,” the group informed LifeNews.
“However, in recent weeks a grave new threat has emerged:  Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid is threatening to force through major changes in the Senate rules,” NRLC added. “While Reid has not yet revealed all the details of his plan, the bottom line is that he wishes to greatly narrow the range of circumstances under which the minority could invoke a 60-vote threshold.  To say it another way, Reid wants to make it far easier to ram legislation through the Senate with as few as 50 or 51 votes.”
NRLC says Reid, who supports abortion, intends to institute this power grab by breaking the Senate’s written rules.
Under the current Senate rules, no Senate rule may be changed unless two-thirds of the Senate votes to agree to the change, or 67 senators assuming every senator votes.
But Reid has indicated that he intends to work in concert with Vice President Joe Biden — who, under the Constitution, has the right to preside over the Senate whenever he wishes — to disregard the two-thirds requirement and impose the new rules by a simple majority vote.
Under this scenario, Reid would require the agreement of only 50 of the 55 Democratic senators, plus Biden’s control of the chair.
Republicans are working to build opposition to the plan, which they have termed the “nuclear option,” while media outlets term it as “filibuster reform.”
National Right to Life says the pro-abortion agenda would march on unfettered if Reid and Democrats get their way.
“The important thing to understand is that if Reid actually pulls the trigger on the “nuclear option,” it will make it much more likely that the pro-abortion Senate majority will ride roughshod over the mostly pro-life Senate minority, at least for the next two years.  This could put in jeopardy major pro-life laws, including the Hyde Amendment, which has prohibited most federal funding of abortion for the past quarter-century,” NRLC explains.
CLICK LIKE IF YOU’RE PRO-LIFE!

“Furthermore, if Reid is able to pull this off, it opens the door for him to employ the same rule-breaking, rule-changing method to later make further changes that would make it much easier for President Obama to pack key positions in the federal Executive Branch and the federal judiciary — including the Supreme Court — with extreme pro-abortion advocates, to an even greater degree than he accomplished during his first term,” the pro-life group adds.
All 45 of the Senate Republicans are expected to aggressively oppose the power grab and some Democrats are facing pressure to not support it as well, with even liberal pro-abortion Senator Dianne Feinstein of California saying, “I think that’s a mistake at this time but I’ll listen to arguments.” others like Senator Mark Pryor have said they are “reluctant: to support it and other Democrats who face re-election in 2014 may be cautious.
NRLC urges:  “Senator Reid’s historic power grab will play out between now and January 3.  If you don’t want President Obama using the U.S. Senate as a rubber stamp for his policies and nominations during the years just ahead, please immediately call [your senators].”
ACTION: Call the senate at 202-224-3121 or go to http://www.Senate.gov and urge opposition to killing the filibuster.

Roe v. Wade Dehumanized the Unborn, Despite Scientific Evidence

On the 38th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, our society still struggled to come to terms with what exactly is at stake in the abortion controversy.
In its Roe decision, the Supreme Court repeatedly used the phrase “potential life” to refer to the unborn, but that phrase has never really been adequate. The word “potential” suggests something impersonal and inhuman–a mass of tissue, a lump of cells, something that may at some point come alive and become human.
Such rhetoric belies reality. When MTV ran a special about the truly heart-wrenching decision of one working-class teenage mother to choose abortion, the young woman proclaimed that she “was in love with this baby already” even as she contemplated ending her pregnancy. It was only later in the episode that she was told by a worker at the abortion clinic that she should “think of it as what it is–a little ball of cells.” But she couldn’t. Pointing to her infant daughter with tears in her eyes, she later realized “nothing but a ‘bunch of cells’ can be her.”
The episode, entitled “No Easy Decision,” dramatized the agonizing choice many young people make. Yet it did more to cloud than clarify what exactly the choice was about. What the young woman was urged to think of as a “little ball of cells” had a heartbeat, a sex, and a unique DNA structure. Scientifically, it was an individual human life. But in the episode, this fact was never really confronted.
The reality seems to have been lost even on some of the show’s critics. In the “Culture Warriors” segment of his popular television show, Bill O’Reilly criticized MTV’s handling of the issue, but he evaded the heart of the matter. “I favor telling kids that if you get pregnant and cannot support that baby,” O’Reilly explained, “that is irresponsible and you may have to kill a potential human being.”
When a viewer challenged O’Reilly’s statement the next day, insisting that a “fetus is a human being with potential, not a potential human being,” O’Reilly responded that he couldn’t let his own religious beliefs influence his commentary. He was merely stating things as they are.
But, religious beliefs aside, this is not how things are. To say that the unborn child is potentially human is to say that it will somehow develop into a human being at a later stage in life. That is nonsense. With the proper environment and nutrition, it will develop into a newborn, a teenager, maybe even a political pundit. But a human being it has been–actually, not potentially–since conception.
This fact is logically prior to any discussion of ethics or law, and in order for the conversation to move forward we desperately need clearer thinking about what is at stake in the abortion debates. When a self-described traditionalist such as Bill O’Reilly relegates to a quaint religious belief the traditional and commonsense view that an actual human life is ended in an abortion procedure, there is still much work to do.
This common error–that something other than actual human life is involved in abortion–was at the heart of the Supreme Court’s reasoning in Roe v. Wade, and it has skewed the abortion debate in America for the last forty years. The Court’s argument in Roe was, in fact, that unborn children possess only “the potentiality of human life” (to use Justice Harry Blackmun’s phrase) and that the Framers of the Constitution did not consider the unborn to be “persons.”
Justice Blackmun found support for the latter argument in a law review article written by the late New York University Law Professor Cyril Means. In the article, entitled “The Phoenix of Abortional Freedom,” Means made the novel claim (“untold now for nearly a century”) that abortion was a traditional common law liberty in America. In his new history of abortion, Means insisted that the unborn were, in fact, uniformly considered to be non-persons by the American Founders and that “all American women [and their abortionists] enjoyed” a common law liberty to abort when the Bill of Rights was passed in 1789. This he juxtaposed with the “sentimental romanticism” of those who consider the unborn to be “little human beings.”
Professor Means’ article, however, was a monumental sham–either a case of grossly negligent scholarship or worse. The chief evidence Means cited in support of his view that the American Founders considered the unborn to be non-persons was Samuel Farr’s 1787 Elements of Medical Jurisprudence, which was published the same year as the Constitution. But Farr’s medical treatise directly contradicted Means’ theory. In unambiguous language, Dr. Farr maintained that human life began “immediately after conception” and that “nothing but the arbitrary forms of human institutions can make it otherwise.” There was no doubt, Farr further editorialized, that the destruction of what “may be supposed indeed from the time of conception, to be living animated beings . . . ought to be considered a capital crime.”
While of course no serious or compassionate person today would advocate making abortion a capital offense, as Farr did, every embryology textbook would confirm what doctors like Samuel Farr knew in the eighteenth-century–that abortion kills an actual human being. On some level we can’t help but know this. That is why we continually dehumanize the unborn with euphemisms and circumlocutions. But in the twenty-first century–an age of 4-D sonograms and prenatal surgery–any honest conversation about abortion must start with the humanity of the unborn. Prior to ethics, law, theology, and whatever else, we need to at least have a clear view of what it is we’re talking about. And what we’re talking about is more than potential life.

(AP Photo)
(CNSNews.com) - The birth rate in the United States hit an all-time low in 2011, according to a report released this month by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
“The 2011 preliminary number of U.S. births was 3,953,593, 1 percent less (or 45,793 fewer) births than in 2010; the general fertility rate (63.3 per 1,000 women age 15-44 years) declined to the lowest rate ever reported for the United States,” said the report.
More than 40 percent of all babies born in the country last year, the report said, were born to unmarried women.
While the overall birth rate declined to a record low, the birth rates for women in the 35-39 and 40-44 age groups actually increased from 2010 to 2011.
Among all women in the United States (including those as young as 10 and as old as 54), the birth rate declined from 64.1 per 100,000 in 2010 to 63.2 per 100,000 in 2011. Among women 10 to 14 years old, it held steady at 0.4 per 100,000. Among women 15-19 years old, it declined from 34.2 to 31.3. Among women 20-24 years old, it declined from 90.0 to 85.3. Among women 25-29, it declined from 108.3 to 107.2. And among women 30-34 years old, it held steady at 96.5.
However, among women 35-39 years old, it increased from 45.9 per 100,000 to 47.2. Among women 40-44, it increased from 10.2 to 10.3. And among women from 45-54, it held steady at 0.7 per 100,000.
The percentage of American-born babies who were delivered by unmarried women actually declined slightly from 40.8 percent in 2010 to 40.7 percent in 2011.
In 2011, 1,606,087 babies were born to unmarried women and 2,347,506 were born to married women.
Although the percentage of babies born to unmarried women was highest among teens, the percentage of babies delivered by unmarried women of older ages increased from 2010 to 2011.
In 2010, 33.9 percent of the babies delivered by women 25-29 were delivered by unmarried women, and in 2011 that increased to 34.4 percent. In 2010, 21.1 percent of babies delivered by women 30-34 were delivered by unmarried women, and in 2011 that increased to 21.6 percent. In 2010, 19.6 percent of babies delivered by women 35-39 were delivered by unmarried mothers and in 2011 that increased to 21.1 percent. In 2010, 21.7 percent of babies delivered by women 40 and over were delivered by unmarried mothers and in 2011 that increased to 22.4 percent.

Abortion Has Destroyed 117 Million People in the United States

There have been more than 55 million abortions in the United States since the Roe v. Wade decision in 1973. The figure, while staggering, doesn’t really do justice to the total number of people directly killed from abortion in the United States or missing as a result.
In a blog post, pro-life writer Mark Olson, a graduate student in Political Science at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, makes an interesting case.To really understand the total impact of abortion in terms of the loss of human life — one has to go back to include abortions done prior to Roe v. Wade. Further, Olson suggest, one also has to account for the children of those people who were victims of abortion and the grandchildren of those abortion victims — missing because their mothers and fathers never were alive to have children of their own.
Olson reaches a conclusion that abortion has directly and indirectly destroy the lives of more than 117 million people and that that has had an adverse affect on the economy.
I think Olson undercounts the number for a variety of reasons:
a) Olson relies on the estimate of 50 million abortions. In January, LifeNews reported that more than 54.5 million abortions had been done at that time (which itself is an undercount of the likely number) and the United States has passed 55 million abortions since 1973 since that time.
b) The states that legalized abortion prior to Roe included some of the most populated states in the nation (i.e., California and New York) and those states legalized abortion for a few years prior to Roe. As such, the total number of legal abortions is likely well over 60 million when those pre-Roe abortions are added to the 55 million total.
c) I would argue the number is likely higher. In 2011, 3,953,593 babies were born in the United States in what reports indicate was an all-time low birth rate. Using that as a conservative estimate and also (conservatively) estimating that people who were killed from abortions (not including those killed in abortions before Roe) didn’t begin having children until age 20, there are roughly 19 childbearing years following Roe (1993-2012). That yields about 75 million grandchildren who are missing who would have been born to people killed in abortions in the first 19 years following Roe. That results in a figure of 130 million missing director or indirectly from abortion — which is admittedly a lowball figure.
Regardless of the number, 117 million or 130 million or more, the number of people missing because of abortion is overwhelming. Olson’s analysis follows:
A basic level economics course teaches that the number of buyers, or population, is a key component of the aggregate demand of a national economy. Strong aggregate demand is necessary to the health and stability of a nation’s economy. If a nation encounters a shortage in the number of buyers, the aggregate demand-curve shrinks and the potential for that economy to grow and expand is restricted. Often cited causes for a shortage in the number of buyers is population loss sustained by war, epidemic, or natural disaster—this population loss causes long term economic problems. I will demonstrate that Abortion is not only a significant source of population loss, but has also severely damaged our economy.
The first step is to figure out the population loss due to abortion in America. Within pro-life circles we often hear a number of around 50 million aborted. This number is a significant undercount. A large reason for this undercount is because this total includes only those abortions after Roe v. Wade(abortion did not just magically begin in 1973). How many were aborted before the Roe decision? According to the very arguments presented by pro-abortion activists in favor of the Roe decision, there were as many as 1.2 million abortions annually in the 1950s and 1960s.[1]
A true analysis of the population loss due to abortion would also require a consideration of not just those aborted, but also the children (and grandchildren) that would have been born to those aborted. To figure the total American population loss due to abortion I start my analysis in 1950, roughly at the beginning of the Baby Boom. I take the cumulative number of abortions each year and appropriately control for the respective annual birth rates, infant mortality rates, and general mortality rates. The verdict, as of 2010, America has sustained a population loss of at least 117 million persons due to abortion. This is roughly a third of our population.
Based on macroeconomics, a shortage of 117 million persons would cause significant economic problems. To create an estimate of this negative economic impact in real dollars, I took each annual population loss total due to abortion and applied the “per capita” individual federal income and social insurance taxes paid for each respective year. Now some will raise the objection that “not everyone pays income taxes.” However I used a “per capita” statistic to control for exactly this. When totaled, as of 2010, the federal government has sustained a loss of $12.3 trillion in revenue due to abortion.
I have graphed our annual federal debt in comparison to my model of our annual federal revenue loss due to abortion:
CLICK LIKE IF YOU’RE PRO-LIFE!

The federal revenue loss due to abortion mirrors our federal debt. A national economy cannot be sustained when a third of the population is missing. Abortion is simply the worst macroeconomic policy a nation could adopt. Population is as oil is to an engine, without motor-oil the engine locks up. The economic models are not working because “the experts” assumed natural population growth sustaining aggregate demand.
We as a nation (and a global economy) are just beginning to experience the economic consequences of abortion. As Lincoln spoke, “…we have vainly imagined in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own.”

A Tax-And-Spend Budget

Posted January 23, 2013

As Senate Democrats Consider A Budget For The First Time In Four Years, Will The American People See Their True Colors?

Senate Democrats Have Not Passed A Budget Since 2009. “House Republicans are planning to raise country’s borrowing limit for three months, with a promise to raise it again if Senate Democrats pass a budget. Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) promised Sunday that it would happen. If it does, it would be the first time since 2009 that Senate Democrats have passed a budget.” (Rachel Weiner, “Why Senate Democrats Haven’t Passed A Budget,” The Washington Post, 1/22/13)

  • “By Not Introducing A Budget, Democrats Can Keep Their Names Off Doomed Plans That Detail High Spending And High Deficits.” (Rachel Weiner, “Why Senate Democrats Haven’t Passed A Budget,” The Washington Post, 1/22/13)

  • “For Nearly Four Years, Senate Leaders Have Ducked Their Legal Duty To Craft A Comprehensive Budget Framework.” (Lori Montgomery, “Senate Democrats’ Budget Plan Will Reopen Battle Over Taxes,” The Washington Post, 1/20/13)
On Sunday, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) Indicated That Senate Democrats Will Pursue A Budget In Order To Obtain Additional Tax Increases, Saying That ” Doing A Budget Is The Best Way For Us To Get Revenues.” “Now, however, Democrats see the budget process as ‘a great opportunity’ to pursue additional tax increases – and to create a fast-track process to push them through the Senate, Sen. Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.) said Sunday on NBC’s ‘Meet the Press.’ ‘There’s going to have to be some spending cuts, and those will be negotiated,’ Schumer, the No. 3 Democrat in the Senate, said in an interview after the show. ‘But doing a budget is the best way for us to get revenues.’” (Lori Montgomery, “Senate Democrats’ Budget Plan Will Reopen Battle Over Taxes,” The Washington Post, 1/20/13)

A TAX-AND-SPEND BUDGET WOULD PUT THE SPOTLIGHT ON RED-STATE DEMOCRATS

Voting For A Senate Democrat Budget Could Be Perilous For Democrats Representing Red States. “Republicans wasted no time in casting those efforts as just the Democrats’ latest tax-raising enterprise, and could find an effective cudgel against a half-dozen Senate Democrats – including the chairman of the tax-writing Finance Committee, Sen. Max Baucus (Mont.) – seeking reelection in states that Mitt Romney carried in 2012.” (Erik Wasson and Bernie Becker, “Budget Tax Increases Would Put Red-State Dems In Tough Spot,” The Hill ‘s On The Money, 1/22/13)
The Willingness Of Senate Democrats To Pass A Budget Also “Seems To Indicate That Party Leaders Believe Higher Taxes On The Wealthy Has Become A Winning Issue That Will Help Them Retain Their Majority.” “The willingness of Senate Democrats to pass a budget seems to indicate that party leaders believe higher taxes on the wealthy has become a winning issue that will help them retain their majority.” (Erik Wasson and Bernie Becker, “Budget Tax Increases Would Put Red-State Dems In Tough Spot,” The Hill ‘s On The Money, 1/22/13)

  • Sens. Max Baucus (D-MT), Mark Begich (D-AK), Kay Hagan (D-NC), Tim Johnson (D-SD), Mary Landrieu (D-LA), And Mark Pryor (D-AR) All Could Face Political Backlash In Their States In 2014 Should They Decide To Vote For A Budget That Includes Tax Increases. “In addition to Baucus, Sens. Mark Begich (D-Alaska), Kay Hagan (D-N.C.), Tim Johnson (D-S.D.), Mary Landrieu (D-La.) and Mark Pryor (D-Ark.) are seeking reelection in 2014 in states that went red in last year’s presidential election. A seventh Senate Democrat, Jay Rockefeller (W.Va.), is retiring instead of running for another term in a state that voted overwhelmingly for Romney.” (Erik Wasson and Bernie Becker, “Budget Tax Increases Would Put Red-State Dems In Tough Spot,” The Hill ‘s On The Money, 1/22/13)

  • Sen. Begich (D-AK) Said “The President Must Propose – Or We Should – A Combination Of Spending Cuts. We Cannot Do This Budget Just On The Revenue Issue That We Did At The End Of Last Year.” “‘I’m going to underline something very strong here: The president must propose – or we should – a combination of spending cuts,’ Begich said. ‘We cannot do this budget just on the revenue issue that we did at the end of last year.’” (John Bresnahan and Manu Raju, “Red-State Democrats May Break With White House,” Politico, 1/18/13)
“No Matter How The Debt Ceiling Battle Turns Out, Obama Is Almost Certain To Face New Pressure From 2014 Senate Democrats Over Cutting Deeper Into The Budget.”(John Bresnahan and Manu Raju, “Red-State Democrats May Break With White House,”Politico, 1/18/13)

  • Twenty Democrat-Held Senate Seats Are Up For Grabs In 2014, Many In States That Obama Lost In November By Double-Digit Margins. “For Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) and his top lieutenants, the challenges of balancing the 2014 Senate map and President Barack Obama’s second-term agenda could cause as many headaches as anything Republicans throw at them. Overall, 20 Democratic-held Senate seats are up for grabs next year, versus 13 for Republicans. Democratic incumbents face reelection in solidly red states like Alaska, Arkansas, Louisiana, Montana and South Dakota, all of which Obama lost by double-digit margins in November.” (John Bresnahan and Manu Raju, “Red-State Democrats May Break With White House,” Politico, 1/18/13)

Rush Limbaugh: Clinton hearing a 'puke fest'

By KEVIN CIRILLI | 1/23/13 3:12 PM EST
Rush Limbaugh said Wednesday that Hillary Clinton’s Benghazi testimony was filled with lawmakers who were “butt kissing” in preparation for the outgoing secretary of state’s expected 2016 presidential run.
“It was a puke fest. It was unlike anything I’ve ever seen,” the conservative commentator said on his radio program, according to an audio transcript. “I’ve never seen groveling, butt kissing, sucking up… So what was happening here was the cleansing of Mrs. Clinton’s record in advance of her presidential run in 2016, setting her up.”

Clinton testified Wednesday to members of Congress about the Sept. 11, 2012, attacks at U.S. posts overseas, including the one in Benghazi, Libya, where U.S. ambassador Christopher Stevens and others were killed.
Conservatives have criticized Clinton and President Barack Obama’s administration handling of the attacks, particularly taking issue with their blaming it on an anti-Islamic movie trailer and not terrorism in the immediate aftermath of the attack, though they would later blame it on terrorism.
Limbaugh said she got a free pass.
“She’ll head home, keep a little eye on [her husband, former President Bill Clinton] now just to make it look good, but basically she got a Get Out of Jail Free Card,” Limbaugh said. “Now it’s time to take a look down the road at the future, make sure that all the ducks are in a row.”
